What I can do is say that there are some important things going on in town and that if you are checking here you need to know whats going on at the BCC and get invloved. Times are a changin' my friends. It is alot different musical landscape now than when I started this website. I promise, thats a good thing.

Check these links out.

http://examiner-enterprise.com/articles/2008/01/31/news/news926.txt

http://examiner-enterprise.com/articles/2008/01/24/news/news935.txt

http://examiner-enterprise.com/articles/2008/01/21/news/news947.txtBridgetktnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11090684.post-75839449021694965062007-07-23T10:57:00.001-07:002007-07-23T10:57:25.929-07:00Don't miss out! Some of Bartlesville's best musicians will be featured when "City of
Legends," the Bartlesville centennial musical premieres at the
Bartlesville Community Center on October 27, 2007.

Playwright and director Nick Sweet has decided to make the evening a
tribute to all Bartlesville musicians, not just the ones with
national reputations. "We usually have about 30 minutes of pre-show
music, 15 minutes of intermission music, and 5 minutes of exit
music," Sweet explained, "so we're asking Bartlesville singers and
musicians to submit CDs that they have recorded for consideration."

Here's how it works: Applicants are asked to submit a short bio
outlining their musical career "highlights" with their CD by US mail
to the Allied Arts and Humanities Council of Bartlesville, PO Box
1101 Bartlesville, OK 74005. If there are a number of cuts on the
CD, specify which cut should be considered as only one song will be
chosen. Also please e-mail 1 high quality photo of yourself, to
Joanie Elmore at aahcb-director@sbcglobal.net Up to 5 photos may be
submitted but more than 1 photo MUST be submitted on a CD to be
considered. Sweet will select the songs to be used for pre-show,
intermission, and exit music. While each song is playing, a picture
(s) of the recording artist(s) and a short biography will be
projected on the video screen by Zaylos Productions.

"We're hoping for a very eclectic program," said Sweet, "I don't want
the audience to know what's coming next. It could be a jazz song, a
rap, a bluegrass tune, a rock song, a contemporary Christian song, a
big band song, or a gospel song. We want the Centennial to be a
salute to the diversity of Bartlesville's many musicians."

The deadline for submitting a CD will be August 6, 2007. No late
submissions will be considered. The Kiwanas Park in Dewey needs a gazebo and money needs to be raised so it can be built. The Dewey Merchant Co-Op has a special party set up to raise funds for this very cool addition and it is sure to be a great time. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, pile the kids in the car or bring your special friend and be prepared for a perfect summer evening with one of the coolest bands in the area. The party starts at 6 and goes until 12.Bridgetktnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11090684.post-2626530352309680552007-06-15T07:26:00.000-07:002007-06-15T07:47:54.408-07:00Music this weekend....I know I am leaving some stuff out but at this time this is all I know about because I am directly involved in it.... this is deadline week for The Current and of course OK Mozart os going on so I am beyond busy.

Friday night is the Dustin Pittsley Band at the Red Dog.....special guest is keyboard/organ player John Galley who has played on many grammy winning records.....

Saturday night the Jimmie Johnson band will be at the Million Dollar Elm Casino and John Galley will be playing there as well, but he is no longer a special guest. He's just part of the band. Things always seem to work that way... bands interbreed and form alliances... the Dustin Pittsley Band and the Jimmie Johnson band are pretty bad about it and I notice that Tuff Profit, Deeper and Hell or High Water do it alot too. This is, of course how it should be with everyone trading equipment and borrowing players. Speaking of that sort of thing, I know that people on the Mothra Stewart/Doubletake side of the world are having a hard time with the flood situation and I know Ron Dunkles house is the one that caught on fire, so everyone should get in touch with these people and see what needs to be done to help them out. We have enough gear to be able to keep them all playing until they get it replaced I am sure.

Make sure if you have something going on you e mail me and let me know for this weekend as well as anything you might have goin on in July.... If I get it in the next day I an still get it in The Current and of course I can slide anything in here at any time. Next week I will begin working on stories for the August issue and will need information for that month asap as I am going on vacation in Colorado for several days.

Looks like the Woolaroc concert might be moved indoors so make sure and call the BCC box office before you head out for the concert! Call 336-2787 for up to the minute info. I personally will be wherever the concert is held. It will be a shame to miss the fireworks and the beauty that is Woolaroc, but it would be more of a shame to miss the music. Dueling fiddles played by world class violinist's in my hometown is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am not going to miss that. I urge you not to as well.Bridgetktnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11090684.post-7632379154340308652007-06-15T07:24:00.000-07:002007-06-16T16:15:22.512-07:00News from CarlThe jpotmusic.com Rocklahoma contest voting is now underway!!! Wood
Reprinted from The Current

The 23rd season of Ok Mozart International Festival runs June 8-16th in Bartlesville, Oklahoma with over 180 events that embrace all aspects of music and the fine arts. Over the past 2 decades Ok Mozart has established a reputation for world-class classical music, and the past few years has seen a growing addition of more diverse artists and events. “We are bringing a fresh look at classical music” says Scott Black, interim director of Ok Mozart. This year’s festival is guaranteed to attract a younger crowd as the roster is full of crossover contemporary artists, a plethora of which are born and bred right here in Oklahoma.

Opening night’s show celebrates the vast career of Jimmy Webb, one of Oklahoma's most prolific songwriters as well as composers. He has won numerous Grammy awards and is responsible for writing multiple Top 10 hits sung by a ecelctic assembly of artists, including “By the time I get to Pheonix" one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century recorded originally by Glen Campbell. Other artists include R.E.M, Art Garfunkle, Donna Summer and The Highwaymen, consisting of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson. He is noted for being the only person to receive Grammy Awards in all three categories: music, lyrics and orchestration. Jimmy recently collaborated with fellow Oklahoman Vince Gill to pen the official Centennial Anthem, Oklahoma Rising.

Edgar Meyer, the 2007 composer in residence, is a multiple Grammy winning composer and recording artist. He is well known for breaking the mold of traditional classical music and has mastered multiple styles of music encompassing everything from Bach to Bluegrass. He is a repeat spotlight player at the Telluride Bluegrass festival, as well as being on the forefront of the "Newgrass" movement. Meyer, who is a certified genius by the MacArthur Foundation, frequently records and performs with other outstanding artists, including: Yo-Yo Ma, Béla Fleck, Sam Bush, James Taylor, Hank Williams Jr, Mike Marshall, Alison Krauss, the members of Nickel Creek, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Edgar will be performing his Concerto No. 1 for Bass and Orchestra as well as several concerts in the Chamber Series.

Mason Williams will be teaming up with Byron Berline and his band on Thursday June 14th at 8PM for an exciting show guaranteed to revv you up with Classical Gas. This Oklahoma singer/songwriter, is well known for this 1968 release for which he won two Grammy awards. Mason also was a long time comedy writer for Saturday Night Live and Emmy Award Winner for his work on for the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Byron is a three-time national fiddle champion who has recorded with greats such as The Band , The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, , Bob Dylan, John Denver, Elton John, Arlo Guthrie, Mickey Gilley, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and many, many more. Come to this show and you are sure to hear why these two have had such long and expansive careers with so many influential artists. Also do not miss the behind the scenes stories from their colorful careers in the FREE Pre-concert talk starting at 6:30 that evening.

One can’t talk about OK Mozart without mentioning the concert at Woolaroc. Nestled in the Osage hills this 3,700 acre wildlife preserve hosts one of the most popular annual concerts of the festival. Elaborate picnics, planned for weeks, are laid out on the grass next to Clyde Lake. Couples are seen dotting the edges of the lake with glasses of wine sitting on blankets and stealing kisses while families tend to move towards the pavilion. All eyes are turned towards the sky at sunset waiting for the grand finale fireworks show set to dramatic classical music selections. This year, in a nod to the Oklahoma Centennial, the selections include pieces from Oklahoma!, Aaron Copeland’s Rodeo, as well as The Cowboys Overture by John Williams. Joel Levine, Music director of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic will be the guest conductor for this memorable evening. In a tribute to our Okie heritage Dueling Fiddles (a spin on Dueling Banjos) will be performed by world class musicians Eica Keissewetter and Robert Zubrycki.

Some of the most interesting events at OK Mozart might just be the ones that are the least publicized. Take for example, the Art Berry Fiddle Hour. An up close and personal Western Swing Jamboree with one Oklahoma’s most ingenious fiddle players, Thursday 5-6 PM.

Jazz Saturday is the final Saturday of the festival and if you love Jazz this is the day for you. All day from 12 until 6 there are Jazz related events going on. This special day of Jazz features original members of Chet Bakers band along with portions of the GQH Jazz Trio, combined to revisit the music of Oklahoma’s Native Jazz Son. Other noteable Jazz acts that day include BenBen, Jeff Davis' progressive experimental jazz project out of Tulsa. This is an act known for breaking the boundaries of traditional Jazz music and getting great reviews.

For a more casual side of OK Mozart make sure and visit the Happy Hour Series. This is a special series specifically with the 40 and under crowd in mind. “Heavy Appetizers” and drinks are available each night in the Studio Theater starting at 5:15. The week starts off with the Comedy Clinic Tulsa Comedy Troupe with a show best described as “Saturday Night Live meets Whose Line is it Anyway?” Other interesting Happy Hour events include Jazz and pop based Eric Sarmeinto and the sure to be memorable “Mozart Idol Competition”, featuring local celebrity judges playing the parts of Randy, Paula, and of course, Simon.

Even international music festivals have local acts as part of the roster and this is no exception. One hometown band with an international flair is The Kilkenny Road Band, performing Tuesday at 5 in the Community Hall. They are an energetic mix of jigs, reels, and ballads that will take you back to the pubs of Ireland.

It only takes a little “Pocket Change” to see this next act! Three dollars gets you in to the BCC Hall to hear an eclectic blend of Folk, Bluegrass, Western Swing, and Rock on Monday night. Pocket Change happens to include among its members past National Autoharp Champion JoAnn Smith.

To sum it all up, this isn’t your typical stuffy classical music festival. A vibrant mix of genre’s and eclectic events ensure a good time for the young and old alike. Whether your tastes lean to the refined or relaxed, Ok Mozart has it for you. The people of Bartlesville invite you to come and see for yourself. For ticket information call 918.336.9800 or visit www.okmozart.com.

Bridget K. We had just left the Bike Blessing that you can read about in the post below, when I saw this sign..... "Outlaw Goat Jamboree" it reads....

Tell me... who can resist a good goat jamboree? I know I can't and quite honestly I was intrigued by the thought of goats having a jamboree....Would they have a band? What kind of people go to an event such as this? We must find out!

Wilkpedia say a jamboree is "A lavish or boisterous celebration or party" A large party of goats who "live outside the law" havin a big ol party... so I turned off the highway and headed to the County fairgrounds to go check this out.

My daughter was not happy....MOM, she says!

My Mom was still in slippers, My Step-Dad was hijacked from the house in his gardening clothes and agreed to go because "we are only going to a few sales... My poor kids have their crazy Mother dragging them to the fairgrounds to see whats going on....Keep in mind we just left a "biker bar" and it isn't even lunchtime yet.

We go in and check it out.... we see a goat getting milked. Thats about it. It's hot in the fairground building and it smells like goat. Alot of goat. We see some goats walking in a circle with their owners and buy some bad cookies for a snack... the cookies are so gross we throw then in the back up my pickup...and we head to Sonic to get a cold drink...SWEET RELIEF!

Can you believe noone wanted to go check out the car show at Sooner park with me?Bridgetktnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11090684.post-79312167412150643322007-05-14T11:25:00.001-07:002007-05-14T11:25:17.518-07:00Click on pics to ENLARGE!Bridgetktnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11090684.post-65212972632128218702007-05-14T11:01:00.000-07:002007-05-14T11:23:34.263-07:00Christian Brothers Ministries<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_o7OOdL81RSs/RkilH2qHqSI/AAAAAAAAAlc/XRiEbtWHOlo/s400/DSCF3947.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5064479335327967522" />
Christian Bros Ministries is : from Left Garret Smith, Tina & Daren Shipman, Ron & Sandy Sullivan, RJ Jinkens.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_o7OOdL81RSs/Rkik_GqHqRI/AAAAAAAAAlU/AhbgtqB9Yxk/s400/DSCF3946.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5064479185004112146" />
Left: Garret Smith, Tina & Daren Shipman, Ron & Sandy Sullivan, RJ Jinkens.
"BONE" down front, Sharyl, Bill, and the last guy we will call the mystery man because I don't know his name....
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_o7OOdL81RSs/RkikumqHqQI/AAAAAAAAAlM/9gA2ycpcv2c/s400/DSCF3943.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5064478901536270594" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_o7OOdL81RSs/RkikgWqHqPI/AAAAAAAAAlE/EVj5c5i9Ojo/s400/DSCF3942.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5064478656723134706" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_o7OOdL81RSs/RkikXGqHqOI/AAAAAAAAAk8/vyQgOoNJpSA/s400/DSCF3938.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5064478497809344738" />
I stopped by the Bike Blessing at Doc's this past weekend because I thought it was a pretty cool thing going on... I know the area has a pretty good population of riders and was aware that the day was one of the most glorious riding days possible. The sun was shining, the sky was bright blue and it was the PERFECT temperature!

I figured there would be quite a few folks out for the blessing and hoped I could get some good shots.... What I didn't expect was to meet such a really nice group of truly well meaning people. Their ceremony was short and sweet, and very heartfelt... I asked Tina of Christian Brothers to tell me more about her organization.

"What we're all about is simple......loving our bros and sisters. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God..." It's not how you look, whether or not you got tatts, long hair/short hair, smoke/don't smoke, drink/don't drink...we share the love and mercy that JESUS gave us freely to live, love, ride, and enjoy this awesome life HE gave us. All of us have a story to tell and Jesus has rescued us all. We are here to serve our fellow bikers, bless them and their scooters, handle prayer needs, and make sure they're covered for that "eternal ride with Jesus".

It just goes to prove that you can't judge a book by it's cover doesn't it? (I know this as I used to be the most heavily tattooed St. Johns School mom... probably of all time!)

Stop by Doc's on 123 sometime (Live music on Fri nights) and see for yourself that there are some pretty cool and super nice folks out there!
