Sure you have. We all have. In fact, this is an area I have to pay close attention to, as I can start numerous projects well, but unless I'm truly focused, I don't finish any of them. For me, I've learned to NOT start so many. After all, if you put too many irons in the fire, you'll put the fire out. So now, I think through a project before starting it that way I'm more focused to finish it.

That being said, I'm burdened today with the reality that some start loving the world and wind up forsaking the Lord. I've watched preachers compromise this Apostolic truth. I've witnessed saints of God turn and walk away. I even have loved ones who have left. All of these cause me to ask the question, "WHY? What happened to lead them to that decision?"

Consider something with me for a moment and open your Bible to Judges, chapters one and two. You will notice that in Judges 2:10 that a generation rises up that does NOT know God or His works. Verses 11-13 go from bad to worse as this generation abandons the Lord and serves false gods.

As I read through these and pondered the question, I felt impressed to read Judges 1...

Things start off with the death of Joshua and his generation of leaders, but the congregation of Israel prays to the Lord and receives direction and take to completing the conquest of possessing their promised land.

However, by verse 21, a shift takes place as we see that tribe after tribe does not completely drive out the inhabitants of the land. Read on from verse 21 through verse 34 and you will see what I'm talking about.

Judges 2 starts off with God being enraged by their decision to break the covenant with Him. They plainly disobeyed God. This second generation after Joshua started the conquest off right by praying, but didn't complete the conquest correctly.

Judges 2:10-13 are the consequences of not completing the conquest. But look to whom the consequences fell - the third generation!

When I realized this, I became increasingly aware of the reality of those coming up behind me. I cannot afford to be incomplete in my task and duty to rid the land of all the inhabitants. I cannot make any covenant or truce with the enemy! Doing so will set up the generation after me for failure.

In the 2008 Olympics, both the USA men's and women's teams failed because the baton was dropped. Imagine the frustration after all that work, all that proper diet and exercise, and after being chosen to represent the USA on the world stage, only to drop the baton.

God help us who are running this race with patience NOT to drop the baton when it comes time to pass it off to the next generation! Let us lay aside EVERY weight and the SIN that does so easily weigh us down!

Live holy!

Be separate!

Bear the fruit of the Spirit!

Be FULL of the Spirit!

Conquer the flesh and complete the conquest!

A generation follows us that is depending on us not to drop the baton! As I near the end of my tenure as youth president and a career in youth ministry spanning back to 1991, I am keenly aware of preserving this Apostolic Truth and ensuring that it's in good hands.

Last night (6-26-09), my wife and I took a van load of our precious young people to Camp Meeting and a couple of different times on the way home, my heart beat a little faster as I realized that these teens are those to whom I will pass the baton some day.

Our children deserve the BEST from us! I may not be able to pass along financial security to them, and the heirlooms I do have are of little to no cash value; however, it is my prayer and my life's mission to ensure that I plant a love for this Apostolic Truth deep in their hearts and minds!

I choose to complete the conquest! Do you? Will you join me today and make sure that we have rid the land (our hearts and minds) of all the inhabitants of this world? Let us make for sure that we have broken all ties with the world and it's system of thinking. Let us be separated from the world and separated unto God. A generation rising up in our ranks depends on us! By the grace of God, I will not fail them. You will not fail them. Together, we can and will complete the conquest!

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-78928888971394289182009-06-22T13:06:00.000-07:002009-06-22T13:45:05.026-07:00Your Word is Truth!
"Your Word is Truth!" In these four words, the scoffers and mockers are stopped. God's Word is not a myth, or a novel, or a textbook. His Word is TRUTH!

Jeremiah spoke of three things the Word of God is like, and these are the basis of this 100th post on Pastor's Pen.

Jeremiah 23:28-29 (ESV)
Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream, but let him who has my word speak my word faithfully. What has straw in common with wheat? declares the Lord. [29] Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

1) Wheat:

We are fed from the Word of God. It is like the manna that fell in the wilderness for the Hebrews. The Word of God sustains and strengthens us. Jesus is that bread of life - the bread from heaven!

John 6:31-32 (ESV)
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.' " [32] Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.

Do you read the Word casually or carefully?

Do you make a habit to study it or is it just something you do occasionally?

How often do you read the Word of God?

Do you let God speak to you through His Word?

Do you allow a verse or passage to marinate in your mind in order to have deeper understanding?

Do you long for it more than anything else in this world?

These questions will help you to determine the status of your relationship with God. Be open and honest with God and yourself. Grow accordingly in Him. Discover what God has in store for you from His Word and in the spirit of the psalmist, "O taste and see that the Lord is good..."

2) Fire:

The Word of God is a consuming fire that burns up all the impurities. Fire is what tests and proves us.

1 Corinthians 3:12-13 (ESV)
Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— [13] each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.

When you apply fire to gold, silver and precious stones, they are purified and their value increases. When you apply fire to wood, hay and straw, they are consumed and turned to ash.

What are you building with?

Are you allowing the Word of God to burn up the impurities in your life?

Do you let conviction lead you to repentance and to salvation?

Are you just skimming the surface of the word, using wood, hay, and straw as your materials?

Or are you digging deep beneath the surface and mining out the gold, silver, and precious stones from His Word?

3) Hammer:

The Word of God is likened unto a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces. Hammers are used to build things, fasten things, but also to destroy things. Sometimes we need that hammer to build up things, and at other times, we need it to tear down things.

Colossians 2:8 (ESV)
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Traditions that do not parallel perfectly with Scripture need to be broken down with the hammer of God's Word - remember, His Word is truth! You must desire truth over tradition!

Why believe something that does not line up with the Word of God?

Which is better: to hold fast to tradition, or to trade it for truth?

Are there things in your heart that need to be hammered away?

Are you willing to let God's Word hammer those things away?

Are you then willing to also let God's hammer build truth in it's place?

Conclusion:

The Word of God is not something to be taken lightly. The casual reader will never plum the depths of it's truth. However, the student of the Bible will find strength in hard times, peace and comfort during difficulties, strength to remain steadfast, and hope beyond this world!

How do you approach the Word?

Hebrews 4:12 (ESV)
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-89251442774237379912009-05-30T08:16:00.001-07:002009-05-30T08:39:17.002-07:00Life isn't always pleasantProverbs 3:5-6 (Message Bible)
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. You know, when the bank account is full, and you've just got a raise, and life is grand. The kids are perfect, the eggs are cooked just right, everyone is smiling, and the birds sing you a lullaby. Why, it's a picture-perfect day.

....we interrupt this daydream with this breaking news-flash...

LIFE ISN'T ALWAYS PLEASANT!

There are going to be bad days full of bad news! And it's in these times when God just doesn't make sense which is why you need to re-read Proverbs 3:5-6...

Proverbs 3:5-6 (Message Bible)
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. [9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

God doesn't think like you and me - He thinks on a much higher level. If you've ever ascended to a high peak, or driven through a mountainous region, or flown in an airplane, you can get somewhat of an idea of how small things appear when you're above them.

The point is this - God is not limited like you and I. He is the beginning AND the ending! He is the first AND the last! In fact, He declares the end FROM the beginning! He is the author AND finisher of our faith! While you only see through your limited lens, God sees everything, including the way it's all going to end! This is why trusting God is vital to your success as a saint of God!

God has never failed! God never will fail! It's not possible for God to fail! Listen to how David declared his trust in Almighty God...

Psalm 37:23-25 (King James Version)
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. [25] I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

God orders the steps of the righteous - this means trusting the outcome to God, even if you don't like where He's leading you. God knows best. Trust Him! The righteous have never been forsaken and never had to beg for bread!

For those who are reading this and facing tragedy, difficulty, or are just plain discouraged right now - take heart! God knows where you are and knows your name. She is excited beyond words and has already logged many hours of playtime in it. In fact, she would probably sleep in it if I would let her. Her laughter and appreciation of it is reward enough for me.

But of course, being a preacher, I got a little nugget out of the whole process. What do you expect? I am preacher! We get little nuggets from almost everything! :-)

When I opened the first box, I did what many men do not do: I read through the instruction manual. I wanted to ensure that I had all the necessary tools and hardware to start the project and complete it.

There were 111 steps necessary to complete this project. WOW! At first, I felt overwhelmed; but then I remembered the Chinese proverb - the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. So, I started on step one. Within a few minutes, it was complete. I was well on my way to finishing - just 110 steps and about 30 hours to go. That day, I completed eleven steps.

After a week of severe back pain, and inclement weather, I was able this week to devote the time necessary to finishing it. I placed the six posts on the lawn where the clubhouse would stand and begin the work. Step twelve, then thirteen, and so on. By the end of the day, I had stopped on step forty-five. It was coming together in such a way now that you could tell where certain things would be.

BUT... I kept referring to the manual for complete instructions.

Finally, after many hours of reading, working, lugging, tugging, tightening, and just plain hard work, the job was done. It is sturdy. It is fun. It is finished.

BUT... I could not have done it without the instruction manual. It was my guide. It answered the questions for me. It gave me direction.

We too have an instruction manual, but the question is begged - how often do we refer to it? When you're overwhelmed with life, do you go to the manual? When your child rebels, do you refer to the manual? When you trip and fall, do you refer to the manual? Of course, I'm not talking about just any book, but rather the BIBLE: God's Holy Word!

After completing the project, I was reading in the Word of God and God led me to read Joshua chapter 9 and the following verse stood out to me:

Joshua 9:14 (ESV)
So the men took some of their provisions, but did not ask counsel from the Lord.

This verse jumped off the page at me! This chapter dealt with the deception of those from Gilgal who did not want to be utterly destroyed by Joshua and the Hebrews. After studying this verse further, I found another similar passage in Isaiah...

Isaiah 30:1-2 (KJV)
Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: [2] That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

In Isaiah, not only do they not counsel with the Lord, but they also "add sin to sin" and "walk down into Egypt." Egypt is a type of the world in Scripture and when you do not refer to the instruction manual - the Bible - you will surely wind up going into Egypt. Ryrie's Study Bible comments that the children of Israel here were making a covenant with Pharaoh and Egypt, even though Egypt was dying out as a "super-power." The enemy and his power is diminishing - don't make a covenant with him!

To find the positive side of this and to end this blog on a postive note, we must go to king David, for he enquired often of the Lord...

1 Samuel 23:2 (KJV)
Therefore David enquired of the Lord...

1 Samuel 23:4 (KJV)
Then David enquired of the Lord yet again. And the Lord answered him...

2 Samuel 2:1 (KJV)
And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the Lord...

2 Samuel 5:19 (KJV)
And David enquired of the Lord, saying...

2 Samuel 5:23 (KJV)
And when David enquired of the Lord...

2 Samuel 21:1 (KJV)
...and David enquired of the Lord. Today, however, I want to present to you three key ways that we can be effective for God.

1) Reach UP to God.

Your relationship with God MUST be the most important one. It must trump all others.

The first four commandments are "God-ward" indicating the importance of this relationship.

In fact, in order to reach out and reach in, you must first reach up; otherwise, you will not be effective!

Joel 2:12-13 (ESV)
Yet even now, declares the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; [13] and rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord, your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.

Before you get to the outpouring of God's Spirit in Joel 2:28, you have to first "return" to God.

Note also the word usage in verse 13 - rend your hearts and not your garments. What God is saying is that when we reach up to Him, He doesn't want our religious service. Instead, He wants a sincere relationship!

2) Reach IN to the Church.

The next step to being effective is to reach in to the Church.

No one is an island! I need you and you need me!

No one of us is as effective as all of us!

Together is truly better and unity is one of the precedents to a great harvest!

Joel 2:15-16 (ESV)
Blow the trumpet in Zion; consecrate a fast; call a solemn assembly; [16] gather the people. Consecrate the congregation; assemble the elders; gather the children, even nursing infants. Are you complete in Christ, fulfilling His will and purpose? Do you prefer your brother or sister in the Lord? Are you united or untied? That's another word that by simply switching one letter, the whole word changes. Ask yourself this question - "Is it about ME or is it about WE?"

Are you in competition with someone else in the church? Do you think that your role in the body of Christ is unimportant? You need to read through 1 Corinthians 12 today. If you're the eye, do you really think you demand that the hand is of no value?

A body part that doesn't respond to the signals from the brain indicate that their is a problem. Paralysis is the complete loss of muscle function for one or more muscle groups and can cause loss of feeling or loss of mobility to the affected area.

What is true in the natural parallels the spiritual. If you are not unified, then you are paralyzed - the brain (Christ as the Head of the Church) is sending signals, but you're not responding to them.

John Maxwell says, "It takes teamwork to make the dream work." Are you a team player? The old adage, "many hands make light work" rings true more and more. We need each other. I need you and you need me.

Nehemiah led a unified and determined team and together they rebuilt the walls in 52 days!

Gideon led a unified group of 300 warriors against an innumerable foe and God wrought the victory!

From humble beginnings of just 120 unified prayer warriors, the church in Jerusalem grew to over 80,000 members. In Samaria, every village of the Samaritans heard the Gospel as the result of unity and teamwork.

Paul said that the planter and the one who waters are ONE!

The way a vision dies is through division.

I declare that Solid Rock Worship Center is a complete church, unified with a high calling to fulfill God's will.

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-12548587223681678692009-04-06T07:56:00.000-07:002009-04-06T08:15:49.851-07:00Pray or become preyMorton Bustard, an apostle of the Lord says, "If I were to be foolish and operate in the Spirit without prayer, I would be easy prey for the devil. Not only would I become a victim of the devil's devices, my spiritual senses would get dull, and my spiritual growth would come to an end."

We are living in unprecedented times which call for unprecedented measures! Prayer is an imperative and we must not lose sight of it's vital importance.

Sometimes when God begins to move as He has over the last few months in our worship celebrations, there is a tendency to depend on the preacher, the choir, the elder, etc. However, this only produces a lazy Christian. Don't succumb to this complacent spirit.

Prayer keeps us connected to the Master.

Prayer is our spiritual lifeline.

Prayer is like the heart that pumps the blood through veins.

There is NO substitute for prayer! Prayer keeps us humble before the Lord. Prayer teaches us our place so that we become reflectors of His glory, not receptors of it. God will not share His glory with anyone and He never will.

The gifts of the Spirit are operating in our midst like never before, but we must not fall in love with the gifts. We must remain in love with the Giver of the gifts! The gifts are to lift up and glorify Jesus Christ, not humanity.

Daily prayer is the safeguard to backsliding. Be sober. Be vigilant. Be watchful. Only through prayer will Satan's advances be detected and overcome.

I believe what causes God grief is when we do not make and take opportunity to pray. Our prayer life should be cultivated in the same way we cultivate other relationships. Without consistent communication, my marriage would be null and void. Without prayer, my relationship with God will cease to function as well.

Too many only pray for something - to be used, to get a word, because their is a crisis, etc. Prayer is where we learn to submit ourselves to God learning His voice. He is able to use us far above what we think or imagine.

So, I've said all that to say this - pray or become prey - the choice is yours.

I'll be at the altar.......

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-83096844504022148292009-03-26T08:17:00.000-07:002009-03-26T08:27:50.537-07:00God IS Doing It Here!I feel a witness in my spirit today from the Holy Spirit...

GOD IS DOING IT - and I'm not surprised!

God IS accomplishing His vision in this city and region!

God is NOT bound by man's power!

God is NOT limited by what limits us!

God IS faithful and responds to faith!

Go ahead! This should not surprise us; however. Jesus said "Upon this rock, I will build my church!" God also promises to add to His church daily!

In January of 2007, we began a remodeling phase to facilitate future growth. A little over two years later, we are reaching the 75-80% point of that growth, meaning that we are in need to build.

Today, I want to encourage you with the Word of the Lord!

Take heart. Be strong and courageous! God has never failed us yet, and He isn't about to start now!

The first Scripture setting is found in 2 Kings...

2 Kings 6:1 (ESV)
Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, "See, the place where we dwell under your charge is too small for us."

If you continue reading this story, you will find that Elisha and these sons of the prophets built a bigger place to accommodate their growth needs. God made a way, and they worked together.

This building phase that we are about to enter will require "all hands on deck." We need every man, woman, boy, and girl helping out as much as possible. Prayer is the first priority, followed by giving our time, talents, and treasure to see the work accomplished. I look forward to working alongside you as Nehemiah did when the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt.

In fact, Nehemiah brings up the second Scripture God wants me to share with you today...

Nehemiah 2:20a (KJV)
Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build...

God Himself will prosper us with strength and money to accomplish this task. I don't know how God is going to do it, but I know He will. NOW Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen! (Hebrews 11:1)

Notice that it's not "when" or "then" faith.

It's not "yesterday" or "tomorrow" faith.

It's NOW faith!

God's Word is going forth today and it will not return to Him void, but will accomplish the purpose He has sent it to do! If you're willing to possess and act upon NOW faith, then join me in prayer, and join me in giving, and let's see what God will do.

Our Lord promised to prosper us according to how we give...

Luke 6:38 (KJV)
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. Sometimes we fill our lives so full we don't have time for the important things.

Susan had just been given a silver dollar to put in her piggy bank. She ran excitedly to her room to "deposit" the coin. However, after a few minutes she returned to the living room and handed the coin back to her daddy.

"Daddy," she said crying, "here's your silver dollar back. I can't get it into my piggy bank."

"Why not?" he asked.

"It's too full daddy," she replied.

Daddy accompanied Susan to her room and, sure enough, her bank was too full to accept one more coin. Upon inspection, Daddy discovered that it was full of pennies!

Sometimes our lives are like Susan's bank so full pennies - errands, obligations, and activities that neither neither nurture us nor help anyone else - that there is simply no room left for what is truly important - the silver dollars.

Psalm 90:12 (KJV)
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Have you made room in your bank today for the silver dollars? Yet buried beneath in the news cycle was the story of the USA Men's and Women's relay teams who lost because they dropped the baton during their respective races. In a relay race, every second counts and passing the baton is crucial.

We are also in a race and as we pass the baton from one generation to the next, we must realize the importance of ensuring a proper hand-off. We must put the mission in motion! Today is the day of salvation! Right now is the accepted time! We must work while it is yet day for the night comes when no one will be able to work anymore! If we expect to accomplish God's divine purpose, the mission must be put into motion...TODAY!

It's not commotion. Simply put, commotion means, "noisy confusion." Too many start making noise about the mission and think that their busyness equals productivity; however, it doesn't! Don't be confused into thinking that commotion is motion. Receive a clear understanding of the mission and do your part to fulfill it...TODAY!

It's not emotion. While we must be excited about the mission that excitement has to translate into action. Many get excited at church, but by the time they pull out of the parking lot, they've lost their zeal. Jesus told Peter that after he was converted to strengthen his brothers. We too must move from only being convicted, we must convert and put the mission in motion...TODAY!

It's not promotion. We must proclaim things by every means possible, yet we cannot be satisfied that this is enough. Promotion alone offers no comfort when the headlines are full sinfulness in our society. We cannot afford to pat ourselves on the back because we created a clear power-point presentation about putting the mission in motion...TODAY!

It is MOTION! It is action! We must arise and shine for our light has come! Darkness covers our schools. Darkness covers our neighborhoods. Darkness covers our communities. And we are the light of the world. We are the salt of the earth. We must put the mission in motion!

We cannot just listen to the preacher, we must make the message come alive through our lifestyle. We cannot just talk about giving of our time, talent, and treasure, we must sacrifice and give cheerfully.

I cannot answer for you, but as for me and my house, I will not just make a commotion about the mission. I will not just get emotional about the mission. I will not just promote the mission. I HAVE PUT THE MISSION IN MOTION!

Join me...TODAY!

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-89827502490436636722009-02-08T05:55:00.001-08:002009-02-08T13:27:26.890-08:00A place to become, part 4

This is the fourth and final part of this series and is titled, "A place to become."

1 Corinthians 12:28 (New King James Version) And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

Do you see it? Right in the middle of this verse is the word "helps." One translation says, "those that can help others." Another translation states, "those with the ability to help."

Growing up, I idolized the ministry. At age eleven, God called me to preach, and I just knew that I would be the next big-time speaker at all the conferences and conventions. However, after informing my pastor that I was called to preach, he promptly put me to work cleaning up the sanctuary and bathrooms, picking up the song books, and emptying the trash. I figured he thought I said "janitor" instead of "preacher" - at least they both ended with the same grammatical sound. Now that I'm grown up, I realize the wisdom of my pastor and thank God daily that he did this to me and for me.

In 1 Corinthians 12:28, there are very noticeable offices listed. Seriously, you're going to know who the apostle and prophet is in your church. The teacher is well known too. Those that God uses to perform His miracles are also well known, like those God uses to work healing. Then, almost seemingly out of place is this behind-the-scenes office - helps. But God thinks highly of those who are helpers, and without them, the church would be incomplete. This also means that EVERYONE has a purpose to fulfill in the church!

It is my very strong opinion that the job of the janitorial engineer of the church is just as important as the preaching delivering the message. Why? Because if Joe & Sally Guest come to Solid Rock Worship Center and the toilet paper dispenser is empty and the soap dispenser doesn't work, and the floors are dirty, and so on and so forth, I DON'T CARE HOW GOOD THE PREACHER PREACHES... Joe & Sally ain't getting nothing out of the service! Now, that last sentence is not grammatically correct, but it's accurate none the less!

Everyone has a purpose in the kingdom of God. The church is likened unto a body in which there are many members (or parts). Just as your physical body has two arms and hands, two legs and feet, etc. so does the church have various parts that all work together in unity and love to bring edification to the whole body!

Imagine one day if your brain sent a signal to your right hand to pick the toothbrush, and your mouth said, "NO WAY! I want the left hand to do it." Or, you're reaching for the keys with your left hand, and your feet say, "Why can't we grab the keys? Until you let us grab the keys, we aren't walking anywhere!" You would wander what in the world was wrong with your body, and if you could get to the phone without another member of your body arguing or complaining or going on strike, you would call 911 and request IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE!

Yet, the above paragraph explains some churches as members bicker and squabble over the dumbest things! "Until the pastor asks me to sing in the choir, I ain't doing anything." Or, "Why can't I be the one the pastor recognizes? Until he recognizes me, I ain't walking anywhere."

Solid Rock Worship Center is a place to become. Everyone can and must have a part in reaching the world, no matter how visible or invisible their ministry is. Your body does some pretty amazing things, yet we rarely talk about the joints. It's the hands and feet and the mouth and eyes that get most of the attention, yet with good joints, those hands are going to freeze up. Do you realize how much we need each other? If not, cut off your right hand and left foot and then let me know how much you miss them. I need you. You need me. Together in love and unity we can and will fulfill God's divine purpose in our lives!

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-74386065306373225872009-02-08T05:23:00.001-08:002009-02-08T13:26:40.609-08:00A place to believe, part 3
Part three of this series is "a place to believe."

James 1:22 (New King James Version)
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Personal growth is a mandate. It is not an option, nor can it ever be. The word "believe" in Scripture means, "to trust; to have faith in." The Word of God MUST be made applicable to daily living. It MUST have an impact on your decisions daily.

Take out a sheet of paper and answer these following questions - they are meant to be between you and God and serve as an aptitude test for your life. Allow God to look long and hard in your life and correct something through His Word if needed.

1) Do you "die daily" through repentance?
2) Have you been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins?
3) Have you received the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in other tongues?
4) Are you abstaining from all appearance of evil?
5) Are you living a separated lifestyle, pleasing to the Lord?
6) Do you pray daily?
7) Do you fast regularly?
8) Do you give your tithes and offerings faithfully?
9) Are you witnessing to others?

These are just a few questions to answer. Maybe you can think of more. Remember, these are not intended to embarrass you, but to strengthen you. If an answer is unsatisfactory, then ask God how you can change it through His Word. Solid Rock Worship Center is a place to believe - a place where you can grow in the Lord. Through the teaching and preaching of the Word of God, you can become a stronger and more successful saint of God!

Numbers do not equal growth. While we appreciate the numerical growth God gives us, we strive for health. A healthy church is a growing church. The supermarket can attract a crowd with sales. The clothing store can attract a crowd with discounts and mark-downs. Businesses bring in celebrities to attract crowds. And yes, unfortunately, some churches do things just to attract a crowd. But the last time I read the "Book," I am reminded that God is building a CHURCH, not a crowd. The true church are those who are healthy and growing spiritually in the Lord. Ironically, this individual and spiritual growth will result in numerical growth, but it's a consequence of true growth.

2 Peter 1:5-11 (King James Version)
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

There are eight characteristics listed in verse 5-7, beginning with faith and ending with charity. Imagine them as the rungs of a ladder, the first being faith, the second being virtue and the eighth being charity. Each individual MUST climb this spiritual ladder! This is true growth! This is what it means for SRWC to be a place to believe! However, unlike corporate America, we don't step on others to climb to the top. Neither do stay at the top once we've succeeded. Instead, true charity is coming of the ladder and leading someone else to it so that they too can make their way from faith to charity.

As Thomas Donaldson said to the young men of our church recently, "It's time to go, grow and glow." Go into the fields for they are white to harvest... In fact, as we see the day of the Lord approaching, we should come together more often, not less. However, we should also fellowship one with another in our homes. This connection provides healthy fun for the whole family.

One does not need to be a family therapist to realize that our society does not offer wholesome fellowship. Supposed family movies have lewd humor and foul language. Video games are increasingly violent and extremely vivid. The Internet and pop-ups are worse too. The media mindset plagues families and individuals. This freedom is celebrated daily by the believers at Solid Rock Worship Center. It's a part of our weekly worship schedule. It's the center of our daily lives. Without the blood we are powerless. Without the cross we are weak. We have been set free and refuse to return to slavery to sin...

Galatians 5:1 (The Message) Christ has set us free to live a free life. God desires a lifelong commitment. And God daily blesses those who live for Him daily! Those who answer His call are rewarded with the daily benefits from Almighty God!

2) Know the truth:

Doctrine does matter and it does not hinder. His commandments are not grievous. It's hard to live for God easy, but it's easy to live for God. To a certain extent they are right. Doctrine divides the truth from a lie. It divides the wheat from the chaff. It divides right from wrong. It divides the saved from the damned. Yet true freedom comes from knowing the truth.

The word know in John 8:32 is translated from the Greek word GINOSKO and the definitions are too many to list. I must know the truth, love the truth and apply the truth!

I and so many more have been set free from sin and it's chains. We can truly sing "My chains are gone, I've been set free. My God my Savior has ransomed me..." I challenge you to take out a pen and paper, or use your word processor and type out your testimony of God's freedom in your life. Acts 2:42 explains that the 1st Century believers continued steadfastly in prayers.

Prayer is not an option; it is an imperative. One person observed, "Seven days without prayer makes one weak." No one can afford to live a prayer-less life. As blood is to the body, so is prayer to the believer!

Hannah represents "continuing steadfastly in prayers." She earnestly prayed for a child to be conceived in her barren womb. This is in part what it means to pray without ceasing. In other words, PUSH = pray until something happens! When you begin to PUSH, God sits up and takes notice.

Jesus was an excellent example of continuing steadfastly in prayers. He would retreat to a quiet place and sometimes spend all night in prayer:

And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. (Luke 6:12 KJV)

In my early teenage years, I would have a lot of "all-night-prayer-meetings." There is something about getting alone with God and spending the night praying. For those that feel this is a difficult task, I would challenge you to try it - while I won't promise that it's easy, I can guarantee you that God will meet you there in a special way.

While praying alone is important, it is also necessary to pray together!

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. (Acts 1:14 KJV)

This group of 120 believers were gathered in the upper room, praying and tarrying for the promise of the Holy Ghost! When believers come together for corporate prayer, amazing things happen!

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:31 KJV)

When the ministry leads in prayer, it brings about exponential growth!

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. [7] And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. [8] And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. (Acts 6:4, 7-8 KJV)

In Ephesians 6, Paul uses a Roman soldier to draw the comparison to the armor of God; however, it would appear the Paul neglected to mention the spear. Roman soldiers were equipped with a spear as well. I submit to you that verse 18 is the "spear of prayer."

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Ephesians 6:18 KJV)

A spear has a point - prayer must have a point: pointless praying is what Jesus rebuked when He spoke about vain repetitions and babbling.

The weight of the spearhead is in proportion to the length of the shaft so that it is most effective - our prayers must be "weighed" down through fervency and being effectual in order to avail. It is not so much the quantity of prayer as much as the quality of prayer that is most effective.

The word "spearhead" means, "the leading element, force, or influence in an undertaking or development." Prayer MUST be the spearhead of all that we do.

Every ministry must spearhead their events with prayer!

Every leader must spearhead their ministry with prayer!

Every vision that is cast must be spearheaded through prayer!

Prayer is NOT an option! Prayer is an imperative; a vital one! Without prayer, we are reduced to a weapon without ammunition, a balloon without air... a church without power! Unfortunately there are those who only have a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof! BUT NOT HERE! I for one will remain a prayer warrior! Who will join me?

Who will help me pray without ceasing?

Who will continue steadfastly in prayers with me?

The world awaits our decision. Hell hopes we will be complacent. Heaven is confident we will be vigilant. Let's prove God right!

See you in the prayer room.......

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-28496568276092559322009-01-21T06:40:00.000-08:002009-01-24T15:32:38.313-08:00Power to BecomeRemember being asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

I do.

I also remember fluctuating from wanting to be a cowboy, to an army ranger, to anything else that came to my mind.

Then high school came. She did what she could to empower us to realize our dreams.

Each of us have spiritual desires too.

We want to be better prayer warriors.

More diligent students of the Word.

Better spouses.

More caring parents.

Respectful and not rebellious teens.

Each of these and more represent what we want to become as we continue to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Well, today is your blessed day. I know the answer to you fulfilling your dream and becoming what you desire.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (Acts 1:8 ESV)

The Holy Spirit is the power source that we plug into and this power source enables us to become witnesses for Him in all the earth.

Think about it: as you fulfill God's purpose in your life, you wind up fulfilling your dream. We are to pray, "Not my will but yours be done Lord" and when we sincerely pray that prayer, God will empower us to become what He desires for us!

Go ahead: plug into the true Power Source today. He's never had a power outage or a power shortage. He gives you power to become!

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-48746271714762440502009-01-16T06:19:00.000-08:002009-01-16T10:21:11.544-08:00Psalm 119Friends, I cannot exhaust Psalm 119. I have been studying this single chapter of Psalms for over two years now and yet I continue to find fresh revelation nestled in its 176 verses. I have prayed through this Psalm numerous times. I have wept, shouted, spoke in tongues, and experienced fresh revelation while reading and re-reading this Psalm. At this point, I suppose I will never fully exhaust the depth of its beauty, and have given up trying. I vow to continue to study and apply the principles found therein. In this blog, I simply want to highlight some of the nuggets of gold I've mined out of Psalm 119 and hopefully inspire you to study it out for yourself.

With my whole heart... appears six times expressing a passion to serve God with my all.

Righteous/righteousness... appears twelve times explaining how fair and just God is.

Never forget... appears seven times explaining that I will never be oblivious to or ignore God's Word.

Affliction/afflicted... appears seven times explaining that through sufferings and persecution, I learn to trust His sovereignty.

Quicken/quickened... appears eleven times expressing that His Word causes me to truly live.

Fear... appears six times explaining how I should reverence God and His Word.

Understanding... appears eight times explaining how God helps me to comprehend His Word.

Delight... appears seven times explaining that we should take pleasure in serving and obeying God.

Praise... appears four times expressing three types of praise, 1) HALAL, to celebrate and shine, 2) YADAH, to throw my hands up, and 3) TEHILLAH, to sing a hymn of worship.

I may live... appears five times explaining that in Him, by Him, and through Him is everlasting life!

Love... appears nine times expressing my affection for God's Word.

Hope... appears four times expressing the expectation, yet also the patience I have in the Word of God.

Keep... appears twenty-two times explaining that I will guard, protect, maintain, obey, take heed to, and build a hedge about the Word of God!

These are some things that stand out to me in Psalm 119 and help me to have a greater passion for the Word of God! In addition, there are eight different Hebrew words (nine English ones) that explain a different perspective on the Word of God. Imagine a pie cut into eight equal pieces. Each piece would be a part of the pie, but not the whole pie. Upon seeing all eight pieces, you will get a better understanding of the whole Word of God. I will list the Hebrew word first, then its English translation and definition.

1) MITZVOT - Commandments - appearing 22 times and meaning, "the specific 'thou shalts' and thou shalt nots.'"

2) CHUKIM - Statutes - appearing 22 times and meaning, "the laws in which God does not give us a logical explanation, we just keep them because He says so!"

3) MISHPATIM - Ordinances or Judgments - appearing 23 times and meaning, "the judicial stand of God's fairness."

4) DAVAR or IMRAH - Word or Words - appearing 42 times and meaning, "the all around general term for the expressed will of God."

5) DERECH - Ways - appearing 18 times and meaning, "the path; the way we are to walk according to God's Word."

6) PIKUDM - Precepts - appearing 21 times and meaning, "the specific guidelines for all who define themselves as God's people."

7) EDOT - Testimonies - appearing 22 times and meaning, "this describes the Word as a witness to God and His righteousness."

8) TORAH - Law - appearing 25 times and meaning, "the whole will of God; His instructions to us for holy living."

Why am I so passionate about the Word of God? Because He has exalted His Word even higher than His name. We know that His name - Jesus Christ - is the highest name ever given, yet God esteems His Word even higher than His own name...

"You have made Your word even greater than the whole of Your reputation." (Psalm 138:2b CJB)

"You have magnified Your word above all Your name." (Psalm 138:2b NKJV)

But the greatest reason that I am so passionate about the Word of God is that Jesus Christ IS the Word of God...

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:1, 14 (KJV)

The more I fall in love with the Word, the more I fall in love with Jesus Christ! The more I apply the Word, the more I become like Jesus Christ. It's a "win-win" situation! And I cannot get enough of the Word of God! I cannot get enough of Jesus Christ!

I challenge you today to turn off the radio, put down the magazine, turn off the TV, and pick up the Bible. Read it. Live it. Apply it. Study it. Research it. LOVE IT! Politicians come and go. Fads are in style and out of style. Time changes. BUT, "For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven." (Psalm 119:89 KJV)

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-73169909850297821712009-01-13T06:51:00.000-08:002009-01-13T07:18:34.400-08:00True GrowthLast night I heard Bishop Stoops teach a lesson that aligns perfectly with the vision I've cast for 2009 here at Solid Rock Worship Center. I took notes and was amazed at how God so aptly spoke through my Bishop, and felt to share with you what I received. Bishop Stoops highlighted four points of growth that if adhered to will achieve spiritual success in the kingdom of God.

1) True Christianity:

We must love in deed and truth, not just word and tongue. The world is searching for authenticity. Fake is over! We cannot afford to be one thing on Sunday and something else the rest of the week. This is a daily lifestyle!

Toby Mac says, "The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today are Christians who profess Jesus with their lips and deny Him by their lifestyles. This is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."

Jesus says, "In a word, what I'm saying is, Grow up. You're kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you." Matthew 5:48 (MsgB)

Paul said, "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." 1 Corinthians 13:11 (KJV)

2) Growth in the Word of God:

Fall in love with the Word of God! It must be more than just a book. You cannot speed read it. Learn to "Selah" the Word. Learn to listen to it, and become more than just a hearer - become a doer of the Word!

How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. Psalm 119:9 (ESV)

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11 (KJV)

I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. Psalm 119:16 (KJV)

The Word of God is living and powerful. It is still creating today. Every time it is spoken, it possesses power to create! Allow His Word to be spoken in your life. Take heed to it. Live in it. Obey it. Follow it. The Word of God is eternal life!

3) Growth in Prayer:

Prayer is not an option; it is a priority! A prayer-less person is a power-less one. Prayer is not just rehearsed phrases and memorized statements. It is direct communication with Almighty God. It is through prayer I receive strength, instruction, hope, comfort, peace, life. and anything else I need.

You must make time for prayer. We live busy lives, but anyone can make time for what they feel is important. Take the time. Make the effort. Become a prayer warrior. Today. Don't delay. Heaven needs you.

4) Growth in Evangelism:

Jesus instructs us to go into all the world and make disciples of all men everywhere! The more you give out, the less you think about your own dilemma. In fact, I believe that while you are helping someone else, God is taking care of your problems.

The cashier at Shop-N-Save needs more than a smile - let God lead you. Maybe you might be the key that unlocks the door to the salvation of their soul. Have you prayed for your neighbor recently? Have you witnessed to them? Do they even know you're a Christian? Share the good news today with someone that Jesus loves them.

After presenting these four points, Bishop Stoops prophesied that God would bring double-portion blessings to those that grew up in these areas. I receive His prophecy. I believe in the Lord my God, thus I shall be established; I believe his prophets, so I shall prosper. (2 Chronicles 20:20)

Let's grow this year...

"God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love—like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do." Ephesians 4:15 (MsgB)

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-72830653073176958592009-01-09T15:11:00.000-08:002009-01-09T15:31:56.942-08:00Yes He Can!Barak Obama heralded a three word slogan in his drive to become the President of the United States of America. Those words were, "Yes we can." Millions of Americans chanted those words while watching his acceptance speech either in person in Chicago, or via the internet or television. Whether or not you agree with his party's platform and politics, you have to admire the historical significance of his election.

I would like to present a fresh perspective to you; however, dovetailing off of these three words. Instead of "yes WE can," how about let's declare, "Yes HE Can!"

When you begin to look at your bank account, declare with holy boldness, "Yes HE Can!"

When you receive bad news from the doctor, delcare with faith, "Yes HE Can!"

When you seem to be sinking in the midst of the raging storm, shout it from the top of you lungs, "Yes HE Can!"

With men things are impossible. Man does not have the answers to life's problems. Bailouts will not work for your financial situation. Empty promises by your politician won't change the situation your in.

BUT GOD...

I'm so glad there's always a "conjuction." BUT GOD...

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. Mark 10:27 (KJV)

And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. Luke 18:27 (KJV)

Whatever circumstance you're facing right now, proclaim with renewed faith, "Yes HE Can!"

God will not let you down. God hasn't given up on you. God knows all, sees all, and is working this all out for your growth and His glory! Besides, it's not about me or we. It's about "HE." The only way I can do anything is through Him!

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13 (KJV)

Without Him, I am nothing. Without Him, I am empty. He brings purpose to my life. He not only clarifies the vision, he creates it too. I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I do know who holds tomorrow. I cannot tell you that everything's going to be all right, but He can! He's good all the time! Even when life doesn't make sense. Even when the economy is shaky. Even when the Middle East erupts in war and rumors of war. Even when prophecy unfolds before our very eyes. "Yes HE Can!"

My hope is not in this world. My hope is in His Word!

My purpose is not success. My purpose is faithfulness.

God doesn't operate on my time, but in His timing. He who framed the world with His Word speaks over my life creatively today. His Word is still alive and operative. Within the pages of the Bible are mystery, romance, history, proverb, song, love, hate, and so much more; yet it is not just a book, it is the Book of Life! When I face uncertainty, all I have to do is open His Word and say, "Yes HE Can!"

While many things change, God never does. His power has not waned. He is still performing miracles. He is still opening doors no man can shut. He is still opening the blind eyes, and unlocking the deaf ears. He is still saving, delivering, and healing. "Yes HE Can!"

I challenge you to finish reading this blog, pick up your Bible, and make an altar and say with vehement passion, "Yes HE Can!"

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-50558726095233577002009-01-03T14:45:00.000-08:002009-01-03T15:18:52.928-08:00Continuing...2009.

Acts...to be continued - our vision.

So, what does it mean?

I'm glad you asked; let me explain.

1) Continue in His Word!

Jesus said, "If you continue in my word, they are you my disciples indeed." (John 8:31)

Continue in this verse means, "remain; abide; to not depart or leave; to be held and kept."

How do you view the Bible?

Is it just a book, or is it life eternal to you?

Do you read it casually, or with the heart of a student?

Are you obeying it's timeless truths?

In one question, are you continuing in His Word? If you are, then you are His disciples.

2) Continue in His love

Jesus instructs us to "continue in my love" in John 15:9.

The word continue is the same as in John 8:31. The word love is "agape." Agape is unconditional love. It is loving without expecting anything in return.

His perfect (complete) love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Is His love complete in you?

It is easy to love those who love us back, but what loving those who despise us, say all manner of evil against us? Do we really have to love our enemies?

Continue reading in John 15, and you will see the results of continuing in His love. I'll do you a favor and not tell you, since you are one to continue in His Word and will want to study it for yourself.

There will be more blogs to come this year on what it means to continue as it is a rich topic in Scripture. For now, continue in His Word and His love...

To be continued...

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-91051917420818623782009-01-01T12:49:00.001-08:002009-01-01T13:02:15.870-08:00Acts...to be continued!
Our vision theme for 2009 is “Acts …to be continued…” The book of Acts is NOT meant to end at chapter 28; rather, the principles of this book are to be continued. We are, in essence, chapter 29 and beyond…

Solid Rock Worship Center is a church devoted to continuing the legacy that began in the upper room on the first Day of Pentecost following the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Solid Rock Worship Center is a place where the un-churched discover and experience the saving power of Jesus Christ and learn to live by faith. Then, these new believers develop the fruit of the Spirit and their own gifts and talents through Bible study and application being known by love. Becoming daily disciples, they demonstrate their talents for the glory of God as a voice of hope, introducing the un-churched to a place of discovery. This is how our purpose is fulfilled. This is how our mission is accomplished. This is the vision of Solid Rock Worship Center and the process by which it is completed.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings hope to the confused, life to the dying, healing to the hurting, strength to the weak, peace to the troubled, deliverance to the captive, and encouragement to those remaining steadfast. And this Gospel is believed, sung, taught, preached and lived out every day through the believers of Solid Rock Worship Center! You are invited to come again and be a part of continuing the legacy started in an upper room in Jerusalem nearly two thousand years ago.

Last September, God began to deal with me concerning the 2009 vision. I began preparing a series on the book of Acts called “Themes from Acts.” By the help of God, I will be “treaching” this series as the Lord leads. The purpose is to both educate every believer on the vast truth of God’s Word, and to illustrate the principles that are meant to be continued in the 21st Century. Further inspiration for the 2009 theme has come from some personal reading of the following books: Simple Church, Lincoln on Leadership, and Intoxicated With Babylon.

I’ve directed Pastor Roland and Sis. Jackie to use Acts as much as possible as a text for lessons they teach or preach to our teens and children. I encourage every believer to read through Acts numerous times this year. Highlight things that stand out to you, research phrases that occur multiple times; in other words, study to show yourself approved unto God. Discover the principles of Acts, develop your walk with God, and demonstrate your gifts for His glory. As we get back to the principles of the 1st Century, I believe we will turn our world upside down, just like the disciples did. Acts is meant to be continued…let’s do our part…

2008 Accomplishments:

· Launch of Solid Rock Academy (currently 17 students)!
· Continued remodeling (New lights, ceiling, floors, trim, paint, etc.) DEBT-FREE!
· Membership roll of 120 with an average attendance of 75!

2009 Goals & Objectives:

· The continued empowerment of every saint of God to fulfill their purpose in His kingdom!
· Finish remodeling (kitchen, stairs, & classrooms).
· Paint black cement white (outside).
· Expand our current building to accommodate continued growth in the fall.
· Continued support of missions locally, nationally, and globally.

Fulfillment of Goals:

· Faithful and consistent giving of each one’s time, abilities, and money.
· Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build… (Nehemiah 2:20a KJV)

Continuing the Legacy,

Myron Powell

Lead Pastor

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-11647008457828510952008-12-30T18:48:00.000-08:002008-12-30T19:06:36.986-08:00Keep DiggingHave you ever felt like you couldn't win for losing?

Does it seem like you take two steps forward, only to take three steps back?

If you answered yes, then be comforted; you are not alone.

Isaac dug wells, and wells were important and vital to the nomadic people. Without them, they would die. In fact, having a well was a sign of wealth. The wells that Abraham had dug had been filled in by the Philistines who envied Isaac and Isaac was bound and determined to reopen them. He would also call them by the same name that his father had named them.

Well #1 - Isaac and his servants dug and quickly found a well of springing water, but it wasn't long before the local herdsmen strove against Isaac. Reluctantly, Isaac moves on.

Well # 2 - Once again, after the well was dug, the locals strove with Isaac and he moved on.

Well # 3 - This time, no one strove against him and Isaac called this well Rehoboth, "For now the Lord hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land."

Imagine if Isaac would have stopped digging after either the first or second wells? All too often we stop short of a miracle. God could have stopped the herdsmen from striving with Isaac, but instead allowed it in order to test Isaac. Maybe God is allowing someone to strive against you in what you're doing. If so, then I believe God has allowed it to see whether or not you'll keep digging.

Isaac was doing something right. Isaac was preparing for the future. Isaac was thinking of his family. Isaac was honoring his dad by calling the wells by the same name. All of these things and more prove that Isaac was not doing anything that displeased God.

We've all been there too! Trying to "dig" out a work for the Lord; studying the Scriptures, which can be made into a digging metaphor, and all of the sudden someone strives against us, trying to stop us. I have a word for you...

KEEP DIGGING!

Don't put the shovel down yet.

The next well could be the one that brings fruitfulness.

The next well could be where God makes room for you.

KEEP DIGGING!

In my few years of experience, I have learned that the best things in life are worth fighting for. This obviously includes digging spiritual wells. I refuse to stop digging; how about you?

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-53718094862247756302008-12-20T19:21:00.000-08:002008-12-20T19:47:20.614-08:00Merry Christ-Must!The family and I decided to brave the lines and head to the Mall tonight. Upon pulling in, it was evident that everyone was bound and determined to go to the mall tonight. Row upon row of vehicles filled every possible space. Finally, we found a parking space and was able to venture on inside.

Once inside, I felt like a mouse weaving through a maze. People were everywhere scurrying here and there buying things. When women shop, they approach it like a tourist, stopping at everything to look. Men shop like hunters, going after a specific target and getting out. So, of course, after only a few minutes I was done and ready to leave. Being the good husband that I am, though, I decided to walk the Mall.

...and I walked it five times...

...oh well, I needed the exercise...

After finishing my fifth walk-through, my wife found me and suggested that I take the boys and head home, as she could ride home with her sister. AHA! I was freed from having to walk the Mall again.

However, during my walks, I wondered at how many people were giving thought to Christ. To the retailers, it's all about making money. To the consumer, it's all about finding the bargains. I watched as people were happy, but yet something was missing. There seemed to be no true joy. Thirty days from now, when the Mall is empty, I wonder how many of these same people will be right back in the rat race going nowhere? It has been said that if you win the rat race, you're still a rat. So, what is the answer to this?

It's celebrating Christ-Must, not Christmas. So, what is Christ-Must? It's this...

...Christ-Must be in us...

...Christ-Must work through us...

...Christ-Must guide our lives...

...Christ-Must be our first love...

...Christ-Must be all we long for...

But the biggest reason is Christ-Must be celebrated 24/7/365, not just once a year. He gives true joy that is eternal. It isn't based on a season, or lights, or decorations, or sales. His joy is unspeakable and full of glory and you can experience it all year long.

As we get ready to close one year and begin another one, remember to celebrate Christ-Must every day.

Merry Christ-Must!

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097915895804159835.post-35751341816315168502008-12-13T08:13:00.001-08:002008-12-13T08:38:47.988-08:00And Unto UsIt's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... so the song says, but is it really? On the night that the Savior was born, the only "hustle and bustle" was Joseph and Mary trying to find a place warm enough to deliver a baby. There were no shopping malls having last minute sales and deals. There were no halls decked with holly. There were no sugarplums dancing in dreams. It was just another ordinary night. And it was most likely in the late summer too, not December 25th, but that's another topic for a different blog. On this night, heavenly hosts did know what was about to happen, and what is very interesting is that shepherds were the first to know about the birth of Jesus Christ.

His birth and life had been prophesied throughout Scripture. Almost four hundred prophecies give details about the Messiah. One that is heralded on church signs and bulletins the most, though, is Isaiah's prophecy:

Isaiah 9:6-7 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. [7] Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

What is really amazing is that most of these churches also herald a trinity, rather than the Oneness of God. Yet, the very Scripture they use during the Christmas holiday proves otherwise.

Unto us a child...unto us a son... We know this to be Jesus Christ. There is no argument, not even from those professing a trinity. However, once you start seeing all that Jesus is to be, you notice that He is the Everlasting Father! How can there be three if Jesus is all of them in One? It's not a "mystery" as some will purport that remains hidden; it's a mystery that has been revealed to those who are willing to look into God's Word with understanding and revelation.

1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

This verse in Timothy proves that Jesus is God, but wait, there's more...

Colossians 2:6-10 (KJV)
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: [7] Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. [8] Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. [9] For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. [10] And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Verse nine is the clincher! For in Him (Christ) dwelleth ALL the fulness of the Godhead bodily! Jesus is not IN the Godhead; the Godhead is IN Jesus! During this season when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, remember, He is the ONE... the Only One!

If it weren't for Him, there would be no cause to celebrate. If it weren't for Him, there would be no forgiveness of sin. If it weren't for Him, life would cease to exist as there would be no hope!

When you begin to unwrap presents this season, remember, the greatest present came in a manger, wrapped in swaddling clothes. And unto us... that includes you and I... a child is born, a Son is given...

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all from my family to yours...

Pastor Myronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669616349660122998noreply@blogger.com
