As you may have noticed on the side bar of this blog, I have maintained a link to and have written about SSgt Mike Mills.

Mike Mills, who was severely wounded in Iraq from an IED in 2005, has not only made a remarkable recovery, but has since dedicated his life to helping other veterans navigate the maze of bureaucracy and paperwork needed to access services in making the transition back to civilian life.

That's why I immediately thought of Mike when I heard about the American Patriot Project, headed by Wes Hazlett. If you haven't heard of Wes Hazlett, it's because he keeps a very low profile. Since this past June, he's put in countless hours, and has donated nearly all his savings (including selling his car and moving into a small apartment) in getting this project off the ground. Hazlett, a former professional baseball player, felt a calling to honor those who have sacrificed so much so that we can live our lives in peace. Hazlett (who until recently co-owned a successful baseball bat manufacturing firm) utilized his connections with the baseball community to build a link between America's pastime and America's heroes, awarding such luminaries with items such as custom bats, opportunities to throw ceremonial first pitches, and baseball tickets.

When I informed Hazlett of Mills, he was immediately interested, and brought Mills' story to the rest of the nominating committee. The rest, as they say, is history.

Mills is the first Minnesotan to receive this honor, and one of only eight people to receive the award across the nation. When I nominated Mills for the award, little did I know that I would have the honor and privilege of actually helping to present the honor to him.
I presented him (and his family) with special T-shirts made only for award recipients
Also on hand were the mayor of Freeport, who declared November 11, 2009 "Mike Mills Day" in Freeport. Governor Pawlenty also wrote a proclamation of support for Mills, and Tara Westby, on behalf of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, read a wonderful proclamation made by Bachmann on the House Floor, to be entered into the Library of Congress.

Bert Blyleven sent this Mills this autographed photo:

Mills also received a special "Patriot" St. Paul Saints jersey, as well as other team jerseys.

Mills, his wife Sukki, and his family were all overcome with emotion, as was I.

I was humbled to have been a part of bestowing this appreciation for the sacrifices that SSgt Mike Mills has and continues to make on behalf of his country and his fellow brothers- and sisters-in-arms.

It was an evening never to be forgotten.

As Wes Hazlett wrote,

Preserving Dignity and Honoring Sacrifice
Wes Hazlett

It is imperative at this critical time for all American's to unite in a most humble and sincere solidarity in honoring our American Veterans who are giving their lives toward our Nation's freedom.

If American citizens were to live with the code of honor and acceptance of the creed and call of duty that our America soldiers live by, there would be no way on God's green earth our enemies would see us as a divided Nation.

We need to fight as citizens for our soldiers in preserving the dignity of our heroes.

We need to be diligent in telling our children what our soldiers are courageously doing in our stead while we partake of the fruits of liberty.

We need to remember the families with sincere admiration for raising their children up as men and women of strong character to defend our American States.

If we do not support and defend the honor of our Veterans from our World War heroes to our Afghanistan war heroes we are going to face a horrendous future in this Nation.

We must not ever become a people who dismiss those who have fought, bled, and suffered great physical and emotional trauma in the defense of America. Schools would have to borrow funds in the meantime, but they would get their money.

Not if Larry Pogemiller has anything to do with it.

According to a school administrator with whom I spoke recently, Pogemiller reportedly plans to refuse to verify Pawlenty's cost shifting measure, thus leaving the schools high and dry in 2011, just in time to harvest political hay for the 2012 election year.

Why? For one reason and one reason only. To exact revenge on Tim Pawlenty by blaming the lack of funding available to schools to him and to the Minnesota GOP.

So livid is the leadership of the Minnesota DFL that Pawlenty had to play the parent to balance the Minnesota budget, that they're willing to exact "scorched-earth"-style revenge on him and the MN GOP, even at the expense of much needed funding for Minnesota's schools.

But I know. Everything that Pogemiller, Margaret Kelliher, Tarryl Clark and the rest of the DFL leadership does is "for the chiiiiildren." Even if they have to shaft them in the process of helping them.
Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

Your Friday Night Yuk-Yuk-Yuks..

Courtesy of Newsbusters:

Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

Welcome to Lilliput

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Utilizing fear as their currency and browbeating as their clout, they promise to brand eunich politicians who don't bow at their altar of gaia as 'earth haters.'

The time is past nigh to finally hand these communist shakedown artists a collective middle finger, and tell them they can stick their demands where the sun doesn't shine.

Come on, EU leaders--grow some cajones. And while you're at it, pass along a pair to our own band of eunichs.
Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

In a Grand Spirit of Open-ness...

The long-promised $1.055 TRILLION health care bill was introduced this morning. Nancy Pelosi and her fellow-travellers in Congress were SO PROUD of this leap to the left, that they blocked access to its unveiling to all but a few "invited guests."
The West side of the Capitol — the area where President Barack Obama was inaugurated — is traditionally open to the public. But the entrances were blocked off Thursday morning by metal fences, with Capitol police officers standing next to staff members holding clipboards with lists of approved attendees.
The money quote:
Democrats repeatedly touted the openness of the development of their health care bill, which House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer called "the most deliberative, transparent and open process" he had seen in his career on Capitol Hill.
Err... In their apoplexy, they claim that there is no comparison between the two heinous practices, and attempt to invoke Godwin's Law because I even attempted to make such a seemingly hyperbolic comparison.

But is the comparison with the practice of the killing of innocent developing human beings that different from what was practiced by the likes of Adolph Hitler, Josef Mengele, or for that matter, Pol Pot?

Many have heard the stories of the Nazis making bar soap from the bodies of the Jews that were exterminated by them.

Well, consider this:
Neocutis' key ingredient known as "Processed Skin Proteins" was developed at the University of Luasanne from the skin tissue of a 14-week gestation electively-aborted male baby donated by the University Hospital in Switzerland. Subsequently, a working cell bank was established, containing several billion cultured skin cells to produce the human growth factor needed to restore aging skin. The list of products using the cell line include: Bio-Gel, Journee, Bio-Serum, Prevedem, Bio Restorative Skin Cream and Lumiere. But Vinnedge is calling for a full boycott of all Neocutis products, regardless of their source.
Yep. using the remains of aborted developing human beings to make moisturizing skin lotion.

Given that according to legend, the Nazis utilized the remains of murdered Jews to manufacture bar soap, the actions of the culture of death as shown in this story suggest that it wouldn't be such an unfair comparison after all, would it?

Well, as Paul Harvey would say, "Hold the phone!"

"No human soap"? This is true, but misleading. Though there is some evidence that soap was made from corpses on a very limited experimental scale, the rumored "mass production" was never done, and no soap made from human corpses is known to exist.

Notwithstanding of the fact that millions of Jews (as well as Poles, Gypsies and others) suffered and died at the hands of the Nazis, the Nazis didn't actually make soap from human remains.

Thus, to compare the makers of this hand lotion to the Nazis is indeed an unfair comparison.

These ghouls are far worse.

(Via Gateway Pundit)
Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

Tarryl Clark's Magical Thinking

Two days ago, the new Granite City Crossing was christened in St. Cloud. Many luminaries were there, including Mayor (and former Minnesota state Senator) Dave Kleis, Michele Bachmann, Steve Gottwalt, and others. Some there gave speeches. For example, Congresswoman Bachmann,

...kept the focus on the "heart of Minnesota," our community, and particularly our business community. She noted the benefits of getting this bridge completed ahead of time and $15 million under budget. Jobs creation by our small businesses (you know -- the ones that make $200,000 or more and are the favorite targets of Democrats' tax increases) is essential if we want the resources to build bridges, repair roads, or anything else, including the family budget.
Democrat U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar reportedly focused on the fear factor related to the Granite City Crossing and the I-35 bridge collapse. Al Franken, Minnesota's U.S. Senator via California, was a no-show. But perhaps the most telling speaker of all was none other than St. Cloud's own state Senator Tarryl Clark, who, according to Gottwalt,

...continued her tax-and-spend theme by focusing on the massive transportation tax increases of 2008 which she claimed were essential for the bridge to be done before 2015.
Is that so, Tarryl?
That may be the source of revenue for this bridge, but the state had already planned funding to replace the bridge. Furthermore, by reprioritizing projects, MnDOT could have replaced the bridge with existing revenues. But Sen. Clark has to defend her incessant votes to raise taxes, and here was a juicy opportunity.
As is usually the case with most democrats, folks here in St. Cloud elected Tarryl Clark on her word that she was a moderate, fiscally responsible candidate. And as is invariably the case nationwide with the unfortunate aftermath of electing neo-socialist democrats, the electorate in St. Cloud no doubt have had a significant case of buyer's remorse.

Tarryl Clark, much like her fellow-travelers Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Amy Klobuchar, and Al Franken has overplayed her hand. She, like her neo-socialist counterparts at the local, state and national levels, went "all-in" on a fool's bet that Americans were ready for all-out socialism.

But in the end, and in the voter's booth, the American people hold the cards, and there is no doubt in my mind that they have lost their taste to gamble on failed socialist policies of expanding government and imploding freedoms.
Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.<img width='1' height='1' Maxine Waters (D-CA) that will make ACORN eligible to play a role in setting regulations for financial institutions.

The Waters amendment adds to the CFPA Oversight Board 5 representatives from the fields of "consumer protection, fair lending and civil rights, representatives of depository institutions that primarily serve underserved communities, or representatives of communities that have been significantly impacted by higher-priced mortgages" to join Federal banking regulators in advising the Director on the consistency of proposed regulations, and strategies and policies that the Director should undertake to enforce its rules.

By making representatives of ACORN and other consumer activist organizations eligible to serve on the Oversight Board, the amendment creates a potentially enormous government sanctioned conflict of interest. ACORN-type organizations will have an advisory role on regulating the very financial institutions from which they receive millions of dollars annually in direct corporate contributions and benefit from other financial partnerships and arrangements. These are the same organizations that pressured banks to make subprime mortgage loans and thus bear a major responsibility for the collapse of the housing market.
I guess the dems just can't help it, can they? After complaint upon criminal complaint launched against ACORN, Maxine Waters still has the chutzpah to offer them a place at the table for regulating the financial industry.

Ain't corruption grand?
Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

The Maoists that Roared...

Is it really an overstatement to liken the current administration's philosophy to Chairman Mao Tse Tung?

I mean, it's not like these clowns weren't vetted properly... Oh, they were vetted, alright.

Remember, Obama comes from a radical left background. Saul Alinsky, Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, and Bernadine Dohrn were more than just casual or accidental acquaintences. They were Barack Obama, and Barack Obama is them. So it was no accident that the Obama administration appointed the likes of Van Jones, Anita Dunn, Ron Bloom, and other radicals. As a matter of fact, those people were appointed on purpose; for the simple fact that they believe what Obama believes.

Secondly, is it really an overstatement to liken the current adminstration's philosophy and tactics to Mao? Is it really a stretch when Obama sends out his henchmen to single out and attack a media organ, and to encourage other more 'friendly' media organs to shun their brethren? And then himself goes on TV, and in an arrogant, smug, self-righteous manner applauds their efforts?

Is it really an overstatement to liken the current administration's philosophy and tactics to Mao, when Chairman Obama appoints a pay czar, who then takes great delight in dictating 90 percent pay cuts to CEOs of what should have been private businesses?

Can concentration camps be really that far behind?

Folks, how many more times must this administration walk, talk and quack like a Maoist before we realize that the resemblances are more than just a vague coincidence?
Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

So...what did the AP know in 2004?

From here:

Kenyan-born Obama all set for US Senate

Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations.

The allegations that horrified fellow Republicans and caused his once-promising candidacy to implode in four short days have given Obama a clear lead as Republicans struggled to fetch an alternative.

Ryan’s campaign began to crumble on Monday following the release of embarrassing records from his divorce. Everything the American people overwhelmingly reject.

No amendments were allowed at the hearing and no debate. Rangel told Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) demanding a probe into earmarks and contributions related to the now-defunct PMA Group lobbying firm, run by former Appropriations Committee aide Paul Magliocchetti. The returned check was revealed in the October campaign finance reports released Wednesday.

More than 100 House members secured earmarks for clients of the PMA Group in the Murtha-written fiscal 2008 defense spending bill alone, and those members had taken in more than $1.8 million in campaign contributions from the PMA Group’s political action committee and its employees since 2001, according to CQ Politics.

Murtha, the most prolific in securing earmarks for PMA clients, had received the second most campaign contributions from the group, behind fellow defense appropriator Pete Visclosky of Indiana.

Flake spent months trying to pressure the House to force an ethics investigation, and around the time Edwards returned her Murtha money, more Democrats were beginning to distance themselves from Murtha. Though Democratic leaders were able to fend off the Flake efforts, 29 Democrats — mostly from swing districts — voted with Flake on one of his Murtha-related resolutions.

Well, Jack--it looks like pretty soon we're gonna have to tie a pork chop around your neck just to get a junkyard dog to play with you.

***Get the most comprehensive information on the lies, distortions, and out-and-out corruption perpetrated by Jack Murtha, anywhere, on Murtha Must Go!!***
Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

Mark Ritchie--D-ACORN

I reported on Mark Ritchie and his association with Peace Coffee here. When he was born his mother was given morphine to stop her labor so the doctors could deliver her via a cesarean section. But it caused his heart rate to slow and when he was born he wasn't breathing. But he recovered to the amazement of everyone. "Ben has always been up for a challenge," said his mother, Jill Stephenson. "He came into the world a fighter."

On July 10, 2009, Cpl. Benjamin Kopp was wounded in the Helmand province of Afghanistan. He was hit in the knee that hit his popliteal artery and the loss of blood caused him to go into cardiac arrest on the operating table at a battalion surgical center. As a result of his injuries, Cpl. Kopp developed swelling in his brain was put into an induced coma to try and save his life. But he died on July 18.

But his service didn't end with his passing. Upon his death, by his own desire, his organs were donated to people in need saving their lives.

"Please continue to say prayers for all of the men and women who so proudly serve our country," Stephenson wrote online. "Ben had a deep love of country and has just left a legacy of heroism for all of us to cherish. Be as proud of him as I was as his mother."

You can read much more about Cpl. As of now, there is a ton of money pouring into her opponent's coffers from big unions, Moveon.org, George Soros and others. As a result, Congresswoman Bachmann is asking for our help:
"Everyday, it must seem that Washington just isn’t listening to you. In fact, it must seem they’re doing their best to work against your interests. Those of us who call ourselves Republicans, or worse yet conservatives, are denigrated as crazy, nuts, wacko, extreme, racist, fill in your derogatory adjective. They say we’re more interesting in stopping progress than in making reforms. The White House refuses to work with Fox News, saying it is a “wing of the Republican party.” This isn’t conjecture; these are the words of the Communications Director of the White House.

You and I know the truth: We’re not being obstructionists. The problem is that the proposals coming out of Washington – from cap-and-trade to bailout mania to socialized medicine – are simply bad public policy. We don’t believe that government is inherently evil, set out to destroy the hopes and aspirations of its citizens, no matter how some media outlets portray us. We realize that an unchecked government can get too big for its own good. And,we know that right now in Washington, this Administration and this Congress have forgotten the tried and true principle of our founding – that the government works for the people, not the other way around.

They seem intent on plowing forward with their agenda no matter how many town halls you speak at or tea parties you attend.

Look around and you’ll see the warning signs about the plummeting value of our dollar. Overseas, the sharks are circling and calling for a reevaluation of the prominent spot the dollar has long enjoyed. Yet, Washington continues to spend and spend and borrow and spend with no regard to our skyrocketing debt and annual deficits. Something has got to give."

Republicans have put forth alternatives to every proposal — and our alternatives won’t break the bank. When we’re lucky, they get lip service from the Democrat majority. More often, they don’t even get a debate. And this from a majority that promised to end partisan bickering and bring true transparency to the legislative process!

They have an agenda of their own and they’re on a path to increase spending as well as the size and scope of government on every issue. They’re out to protect their friends — like ACORN — regardless of what it costs you and what it will cost our nation’s future.

Don’t give up! I hear you. And, there are others in Congress who hear you, too. Today, let’s send a message to Washington that they can’t ignore. I promise to keep speaking the truth for all of you, but I need your help to do it. Is it worth just a few minutes of your time and a few dollars to make sure Washington gets the message that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?
Ms. Bachmann is one person in Washington who isn't afraid to loudly proclaim that our current socialist 'emperor' has no clothes. If you agree with this, please let Ms. Bachmann know by supporting her with a generous contribution.

Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

The Inconvenient Truth About Journalism

Cheerleaders, not reporters?:

The media have long been remiss in their first duty as journalists: To question everything, not just things they disagree with.
Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

The Great Margaret Kelliher Depression

<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; In fact, the unemployment rate has increased by about 50% since the DFL took control of the House.

Is it any wonder that places like South Dakota and Iowa have been successfully courting jobs away from Minnesota for the past two to three years?

Electing the absolutely clueless to perform important functions has its consequences. Consequences that should now be all too apparent to anyone with any kind of a clue.

Read more at Psycmeistr's Ice Palace.

Quote of the Day...A harbinger from Ayn Rand

"Watch money.
