Fun at the Trowbridge Town Fun Day

Players from Trowbridge Town had a fantastic day at Woodmarsh where the Committee organised a Fun Day. All mini-soccer age groups played matches during the morning before the First Team took on Oxford City Nomads in the afternoon. With sweets, burgers and plenty of drinks no-one went hungry or thirsty.

Plenty of events kept our players and parents entertained. A soccer skills challenge, penalty shoot-out, cross bar challenge allowed players to show off their skills. Hair spraying gave the whole event a carnival feel.

The Under 10's entertained the crowd with a game at half time on the senior pitch.

It was a great day, bringing the club together from our Kids Club players all the way through to the first team.

Congratulations to all those who worked so hard to make this event a great success, so many people can't wait for the next one!

Trowbridge Trip To Swindon Town

Carnival Time @ Trowbridge Town

Nathan and Nicola Mead organised Trowbridge Town's presence at this years Carnival. They took the lead decorating a car, organising a sound system, and Pens and Flyer's that were distributed on route.

Around 22 Youth Players walked the route in their kits and tracksuits, supported by 4 of their coaches and numerous parents. The kids were a credit to the Club during the 2 hour walk, managing to carry collection buckets, which were very generously filled, and distribute around 500 Trowbridge Town Pens. Our support to the Carnival was clear; a car decorated with 50 yellow/black balloons, yellow ribbon and 30 yellow bows. Following behind was a trailer blasting out football music. It's a shame the weather got the better of the flashing lights!

Well done to all those involved, they had a great time and promised to do it again next year, but this time - bigger and better.

Jay Jay Signs For Yeovil Town

Big congrats to Jamie Jordan who has been signed by Yeovil Town. Jamie (or Jay Jay) started playing for Trowbridge at age six and was been a part of the Club playing in all age groups through to his last season at under sixteen. A prolific striker with great pace and natural ability on the ball, he has been a big part of our Club for a long time. It is great to see that all his hard work and undoubted enthusiasm has been rewarded with an contract at a professional club.

Presentation Day

Trowbridge Town had a very successful afternoon and evening on 19th July celebrating the past season in the Youth section of the club. Around thirty teams and the Kids Club heard about the highlights from the year gone. Each player received a memento for playing and training with the Club. Awards were presented to each team in the categories Top Goalscorer, Most Improved Player/Clubman, Supporters Player, Players Player and Managers Player of the year. Some of the biggest applause was reserved for our league and cup winners, including our girls teams.

On Friday 4th July Trowbridge Town and Trowbridge Town Youth Football Clubs formally merged into a single club. A large number of members from each club attended the inaugural meeting of the new club, voting in a new constitution and committee. Andy Mackinder and Paul Naylor, former Chairman and Secretary of Trowbridge Town Youth and Roy While, the former Treasurer of Trowbridge Town, become Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of the new club. Chris Bower, Steve Old, Kathy Crisp, Jo King, Peter Fuller and Mike Draper will form the committee.

After a number of years working together, last Friday’s meeting finally brought the two clubs together as a single entity. It follows many years of hard work by the committees of the old clubs to provide football in the Trowbridge community. Their commitment and dedication has paved the way for an exciting new future for local football. The new club will be made up of around 30 football teams. The youngest members will participate in the Kids Club before moving on to mini-soccer at Under 7. 11 to 16 year olds will join teams in the Mid Wilts Youth and minor Football League. There is also a significant girls section with teams available from 10 years old. Senior football will form the top end of the clubs activities. The first team will continue to play in the Hellenic League with the reserves playing in the Wiltshire County League. A third team will continue to play in the Trowbridge and District League. This will see the former AFC Trowbridge Town Youth teams changing their names to Trowbridge Town Reserves and Trowbridge Town A.

You will need to complete a club membership form and a league registration. Please ensure both of these are provided with payment.

We will be collecting membership fees at the Club Presentation Night on 19th July 2008 at Trowbridge Civic Hall.

Merger

We are looking to merge the activities of Trowbridge Town and Trowbridge Town Youth into a single Club, focussed on providing football in the community.

We have been running a tranistional committee to take this initiative forward and now is the time to formally bring the two clubs together. As a result, you are invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the Trowbridge Town Football Club; which will formally bring together, under one new club, the former Trowbridge Town Football Club and the former Trowbridge Town Youth Football Club.

The transitional committee will ask the meeting to:
· Formally accept the constitution for the new Club
· Elect the Officers for the Club

The meeting will take place at 19:45 on Friday 4th July 2008 at Trowbridge Cricket Club. The committee ask that you make every effort to attend.

TTYFC held a very successful club development weekend over 23 - 25 May 2008. Mini soccer matches were enjoyed by all those who took part. Many players took to learning new skills with great enthusiasm.

Many thanks must go to all those who made the event a great success, the coaches, the ladies in the sweet/tea hut and those who laboured behind the scenes!
