24 Hour Express Service for Printed Pens

Printed pens are still one of the most effective ways of advertising and are a clear winner for promotional gifts, conferences, trade shows and exhibitions.

If you have a requirement for a printed pen but have a very tight deadline we can now offer a 24 hour express service available for a limited range printed pens from 4th January 2007.

The Super Nova Argent, Super Nova Frost or Alpine DR Pen can be printed 1 colour and despatched 24 hours from receipt of order and artwork approval.
This express service is based upon four conditions. Artwork must be ready for printing and supplied by email as an Illustrator file in editable eps vector format. A pdf proof is emailed to the customer for approval and no further work is done on the pen order until approval is faxed back to us. The count down for despatch of an order for printed pens begins from receipt of artwork approval. Pens are despatched on a courier service for next day delivery, we do not take responsibility for late deliveries once the pens have left our printers. Delivery addresses must include the post code and a contact name and telephone number in case of difficulty. Deliveries will take place between the normal working hours of 8.30pm to 5.30pm. Pre 10am deliveries can be requested at extra cost.

The Futura Ball Pen is a good quality pen at an exceptional price. The pen has a push button and satin chrome trim, the style is modern. Screen print area on the barrel is 35mm x 30mm. The names of pens.

In an idle moment I have been pondering the names given to some of our pens.
Who thinks these up I wonder? How on earth did any one arrive at the ‘Concerto Number 1’ pen? It is certainly a very nice looking pen and it feels very comfortable with a stylish, moulded rubber grip but what has this to do with a concerto? It’s a mystery. We also have the Concerto Number 2, the Symphony, the Melody and the Sonata. All are metal bodied pens with black ink refills and would make excellent premium business gifts.

Floating pens have attracted much interest in recent months. If you are interested in this type of pen it is worth remembering that the floating inserts are custom made so the lead time for delivery of these printed pens is usually 4-5 weeks from receipt of artwork approval.

Highlighter pens

Floating pens have been around for 50 years, they are produced by a Danish company. Apparently people who receive these pens keep them even after the ink has run dry – how effective is that for a business gift or for an advertising campaign?

It is said that a printed pen is the most commonly used advertising item. If that is true then it is also the most cost effective incentive business gift. Fire station wall gaffe
A fire station's wall had to be rebuilt because it was the wrong shade of red. The new wall is now in place - and it looks exactly the same as the old one, according to the Daily Mirror. The work was part of an unfinished project to build a £6m fire station in Gateshead. A council official stopped brickies building the 20-metre long, six-metre high wall because under planning rules it had to be made from dark red bricks. The ones they were using had a hint of orange.
Secretary Ken Walters, secretary of the Tyne and Wear Fire Brigades Union, slammed the privately funded building project. He fumed: "If they can't even guarantee to use the right bricks then what guarantees can we have for fire safety?"
The project's building firm Jarvis paid for the rebuild, saying it had made an "oversight".
Rita Dobson, 60, who works in the Springfield Hotel opposite the fire station, said of the identical new wall: "I can't believe it."
This sad story highlights why we must always ask for a Pantone colour reference before going to print. What one person perceives as ‘pillar box red’ may be seen by another as orange or pink and if we print the ‘wrong’ pillar box red on our customer’s pens or mouse mats or mugs then that customer is going to be very upset. Trying to explain how such an error occurred is not going to be easy – take my word for it -
so the watchwords are ‘PANTONE REFERENCE PLEASE’

Full colour printed pens

It isn’t easy to find a printer who can produce a good full colour image on printed pens. Senator, however, has the ability to do this and it is worth looking at the range of pens available for this process. Full colour print can only be done on white plastic pens such as the Hit or Super Hit. The process is expensive to set up, origination and plate charges are £125 per design, but when this is amortized the unit price per printed pen is surprisingly low. Flicking through the Incentive Business magazine today and searching for useful ideas for this blog I came across an article written as a guide through the minefield of picking the right promotional pens. Here are a few of the points, which may seem pretty self evident but sometimes get forgotten when we are confronted with an absolute sea of information about pen products.

Choose a pen that fits the recipient; make sure it is a gift that will be important to the recipient.
Follow trends, ergonomically shaped pens and stylish packaging are increasingly demanded.
Branding on executive pens should not be obtrusive. A well branded pen can become a collector’s item.
Give plenty of time to make the choice of pen. Make sure that there is time to get samples and test the pens and don’t forget that lead times for printing the pens will usually be 15 working days and possibly longer in the holiday season.

The other day I received a printed pen from a supplier and I must say that I am really impressed with the quality of this particular pen; in fact I use it all the time. It is a metal coated ball pen, red with silver trim and an excellent rubber grip, in just the right position, which makes writing very comfortable. Biodegradable pens and recycled products

Not so long ago I wrote a piece about recycling and recycled goods and was surprised at how much response there was. Clearly there is a lot of interest and concern about the environment especially as just recently there has been so much in the news about climate change, destruction of the sea floor ecology, unsightly wind farms and so on. The other day I came across this anecdote in an extract from Jonathon Sachs new book. ‘Two men were walking along a beach where a great number of sea urchins had been washed ashore after a storm. The younger of the two was picking up the sea urchins and putting them back into the ocean. The older man asked why he was doing this when it was obviously a hopeless task; only a few could be saved. The young man replied that he realised this but saving a few was far better than saving none at all.’ Perhaps there is a message here for the people who say that recycling is a waste of time and that whatever we can do is just a tiny drop in the ocean of waste being produced every day. If we do not change our ways we shall build up a disastrous problem for our children and grand children and they will suffer the consequences of our negligence and selfishness. Just doing a little bit will help, buy recycled goods or biodegradable goods, cycle to work or walk, turn off the TV instead of leaving it on stand by, recycle as much paper, glass, plastics and garden waste as possible- think green!!
