It takes a special kind of Democrat to lose in New Jersey.--Jordan Lieberman

Shepard Smith and Jordan Lieberman (publisher of politics magazine) in the above video are discussing what last night's races will mean for Democrats in 2010. Lieberman said that the Virginia and New York races weren't that big a deal, but if Corzine lost New Jersey, the Democrats were in trouble. It wasn't too long after that, that the race was called for Corzine's opponent, Republican Chris Christie.

In fact, the GOP ended up with a lot of victories last night, enough to call it a GOP Sweep. Two big Governor victories in Virginia and New Jersey.

Supposedly, Obama wasn't watching the results. Of course, that may be true, he may have known that news was going to be bad and didn't want to watch the depressing news. Anyway you look at it, its not good news for Obama, no matter how his people will try to spin it. Rush may have been right about the bloodbath for Democrats in 2010.

Trip Post 2--Sequoia National Park!

Sequoia National Park was my kids' favorite park out of the 5 we visited. It wasn't because of the spectacular trees, although, they were impressed. It was because we got to see 5 bears up close in the wild.

Also, 2 hikers had been missing for over a week and were found on the day we visited. I bought local newspapers on the trip, whenever I got a chance, and I had read about the missing hikers that morning. During the day, we saw the rescue helicopter, and that night on the news we saw that they had been found.

We started out at a Visitor's center, and then made our way to "The Sentinel Tree".

After that we made our way to Moro Rock. My parents and the kids and I started up the 400-step stairway to the top. The older 3 kids sped ahead with my Dad. My Mom was walking slowly and my youngest son and I were taking each turn as it came. I finally got to a certain part, and in my mind I knew I wasn't going up any higher. At the same time, my son said he was ready to head back down, so it worked out well ;-). The older kids and my Dad made it to the top. They were literally in the clouds, and the view was wonderful.

Its amazing when you see people, or even a vehicle next to the trees. It gives you some perspective on how awesome they are.

We then headed to "General Sherman", which is the biggest living thing in the world. Redwoods are taller, but Sequoias are bigger.

We were walking back up the trail from seeing "General Sherman" when we saw the bears. The kids had run ahead, which we heard many times later at that park and others, "children should not run ahead because of bears and mountain lions, etc..".

The bears were completely oblivious to the fact that we were there. Before we arrived, we found out that a Mama Brown Bear had gotten into a spat with a Black Bear because the black bear had gotten too close to her cubs. Mama Bear had 2 cubs and she was way up in a tree whipping down pine cones to them. There was also another brown bear on the scene. It was amazing how close we were to them. My Dad worked for the U.S. Forest Service his whole life and this was his first time seeing bears in the wild. It was a sight to see.

I made sure I was close to my kids and after awhile we figured we shouldn't tempt fate anymore, and we left.

Basic Sequoia National Park facts:

--There are 388 National Park Areas in the U.S.
--Sequoia National Park was created in 1890
--John Muir was instrumental in protecting/preserving this park as well as Yosemite and others
--It is located in Central California
--It is high in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range
--It is famous for having some of the biggest trees in the world
--There are 2 surviving kinds of Sequoia trees--the redwood & the giant sequoia
--The Sequoias can live for more than 3,000 years, in part because they are fire-resistant
--There are about 30 Sequoia groves at the park
--One of the largest is the "Giant Forest"
--The "General Sherman" tree is located in the Giant Forest, it is named after the famous Civil War general and the tree is the BIGGEST living thing in the WORLD

Trip Post 1--Grand Canyon!

My trip out West was awesome! I went with my parents and my kids. We survived the thousands of miles of car travel, fast food and motels. My Grandmother was turning 90 and she lives in Washington. So, on the way to Washington for her 90th Birthday party we stopped off at some sites.

We went to the Grand Canyon, Sequoia National Park, Yosemite, Redwoods National Park and Mt. Rushmore. I decided to do a post on each site so I could post pictures on each one.

I had never been to the Grand Canyon so, I was pretty excited about seeing it. We were fortunate that we had good weather at every park we went to. It was a little chilly at the Grand Canyon, but the skies were clear.

I was amazed and somewhat concerned about how close to the edge you were able to get at certain places. I was especially nervous having all of my kids with me. My youngest made a big deal when he turned 9 that he was too old for me to hold his hand anymore. Not only did he make an exception at the Grand Canyon, but he told me that if "I wasn't holding his hand, he might faint." It was very cute!

Since, I homeschool this trip automatically gets turned into an educational field trip ;-). My 15 year old daughter lamented about this. Yet, I enjoyed learning along with my youngest from all the different books we read on the different parks. Below are just a few things that I learned.

Basic Grand Canyon facts:

--Became a national park in 1919
--Its located in Northwestern Arizona
--It is 277 miles long
--5 million people visit the park each year
--90% of those people see the canyon from the South Rim
--It takes 5 hours by car to get to the North Rim, so fewer people see it from there
--You can hike or take a mule train to get to the bottom of the canyon
--The Colorado River flows through it (some take rafting trips down it)
--Major John Powell lead an expedition through the Canyon in 1869

Judas Asparagus

Wondering if this was really written by a child? If you need a laugh today, then this should do it!!! A child was asked to write a book report on the entire Bible. This is amazing and brought tears of laughter to my eyes. I wonder how often we take for granted that children understand what we are teaching.

Through the eyes of a child: The Children’s Bible in a Nutshell.

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, ‘The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.

Anyway, God said, ‘Give me a light!’ and someone did. Then God made the world.

He split Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren’t embarrassed because mirrors hadn’t been invented yet.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden…..Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn’t have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.

Pretty soon, all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah, came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast.

Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh’s people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don’t lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or your neighbor’s stuff. Oh yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses’ best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.

After Joshua, came David. He got to be a king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon, who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn’t sound very wise to me.

After Solomon, there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.

There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don’t have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of the New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn, too, because my mom is always saying to me, ‘Close the door! Were you born in a barn?’ It would be nice to say, ‘As a matter of fact, I was.’)

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats. Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount. But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius, the Pilot. Pilot didn’t stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead..

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

Kelly interviews Acorn's founder, Wade Rathke, who is brutally honest about his socialistic and "spread the wealth" agenda. Rathke admits that he was mentored by George Wiley who ran the group, National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO). NWRO's goal was to:

"...organize welfare recipients into a political force. The thought was that if they added enough people to the welfare rolls, radical, political and economic change would follow."

2) Hollywood's New Low--Defending a Child Rapist--I don't know if you've been following this story, but its sick. Roman Polanski drugged and violently raped a 13 year old girl when he was 44 years old. Yet, somehow, because he is a Hollywood Film Director and because it happened 30 years ago, there are those that don't think he should serve any jail time for his crime.

Sean Hannity read a transcript from the case on the air yesterday and it was horrifying. To this day, Polanski still doesn't see that he did anything wrong. So, since he was a coward and fled the country and since he's loved by hollywood, he should be let free is the justification being made by many. Ask Whoopie Goldberg, according to her it wasn't, "rape rape", whatever that means. As a mother of two daughters, I am beyond sickened.

3) Democrats are resorting to becoming "Drama Kings" as they lose public support for Government Run Health Care

--We wouldn't want to actually listen to what the Doctors would have to say about this would we?

"You will never find a more retched hyde of scum and villainy."--Obi Wan Kenobi from Star Wars

A college kid used the above Star Wars quote to describe the UN summit on his Facebook page. As far as I'm concerned, he's not too far off. Rush Limbaugh said that Gaddafi's speech looked like a scene straight out of the Star Wars bar scene, and he was exactly right!

Yet, it was Obama's speech that was the most offensive to me as an American. For the first time, I wasn't proud of my President. Well, I guess thats not true. I did live through the Clinton years after all, but its close.

Obama hit the Trifecta with his speech by going after the U.S., Israel and Bush! He bashed his own country and committed what I agree was a "brutal betrayal". The more I heard of his speech, the higher my blood pressure went.

As if that weren't enough, he decided to throw Israel under the bus as well. It only makes sense to attack the only democracy in the Middle East, and one of our few allies.

And, no speech is ever done until we've bashed Bush. It never surprises me when dictators, madmen and your average liberal attacks Bush, but the current U.S. President to the UN? Say what you will about W, but he never, ever took potshots at Clinton and he had plenty of opportunities to do so, and plenty of material to work with. I guess thats the difference between a man that has class, and one that doesn't.

As John Bolton said, Obama's speech was "Wilsonian" and extremely "naive", he "thinks the UN is going to solve the world's problems."

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin was in Hong Kong actually making sense and defending our country. Someone brought up Huckabee being our best bet for the GOP in 2012 recently. My standard answer is, if that happens, I'm slitting my wrists! I'll take Sarah Palin any day, and twice on Sunday!

Condi Rice--A Voice of Reason!

Oh, how I miss Condi Rice amidst the insanity that is now going on in the current administration in Washington. I can't wait for her books to hit the shelves, and hopefully she comes to KC for her book tour.

She couldn't be more right about not abandoning Afghanistan. Obama wanted to follow a different course in Afghanistan this past March. Now, as things aren't going the way he planned, he's wavering and thinking about pulling out instead of listening to HIS general and putting in more troops. Rice's words couldn't be more clear:

"The last time we left Afghanistan, and we abandoned Pakistan," she said, "that territory became the very territory on which Al Qaeda trained and attacked us on September 11th. So our national security interests are very much tied up in not letting Afghanistan fail again and become a safe haven for terrorists.

"It's that simple," she declared, "if you want another terrorist attack in the U.S., abandon Afghanistan."

Also, I'm not alone in being a fan of Condi Rice. The women at, Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit gave her a standing ovation after she spoke there.

Republicans have long known that Acorn has serious corruption problems. Especially, those of us in Missouri where Acorn has had some major problems with Voter Registration Fraud.

Democrats have been in denial, insisting that Acorn helps out the poor. The problem is, it seems that while Acorn was SUPPOSED to be helping the poor, they were actually victimizing them.

On Glenn Beck's show the other night he pointed out the glaring difference in how the networks were covering the Acorn scandal. At that time, the regular networks hadn't done any stories on it. Extremely, hard to comprehend as even liberal Jon Stewart points out in the video at the top. And make sure to watch the Beck video, he has all the Acorn stats, they are frightening.

Where do you even go with this? The Appeaser in Chief is at it again, sticking his foot in his mouth. I think Carter wins the prize on being the most offensive ex-president, which is surprising considering Bill Clinton is still living. Yet, every time you turn around Carter is appeasing a dictator, displaying his blatant anti-semitism or being a notorious terrorism-enabler.

Now, he has to jump on the bandwagon and declare that if anyone disagrees with Obama, that makes them racist. Its a no win situation. We aren't allowed to say anything to oppose Obama's policies, without being labeled a racist according to Bill Maher and now Jimmy Carter. If they can't win the argument, its time to pull out the race card.

Mourning the Loss of Patrick Swayze!!

When Patrick Swayze was originally diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January of 2008, I offered up prayers for him and did a post asking others to pray and sign a public get well card for him. Swayze fought the deadly cancer and continued acting and living life, but unfortunately, lost his battle with cancer yesterday at the age of 57.

Dr. Jeffrey Hardacre told Fox News that Swayze defied the odds because most people that are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer only live 3-6 months, and Swayze lived for over a year and a half.

I think many viewed Swayze as one of the "good guys" in Hollywood. I know I did. Any woman that was a teen in the 80's fell in love with him in the movie Dirty Dancing. My other favorites were:

Also, no one will ever forget his hilarious SNL skit with Chris Farley. Its hard to believe that they are both gone now.

Remembering 9/11!!

Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature, and we responded with the best of America, with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.--President George W. Bush on September 11, 2001

I will forever be grateful that President George W. Bush was at the helm on that fateful day and not someone else. God Bless him, he is greatly missed!!

--As everyone is aware, the most memorable event from Obama's speech last night was Representative Wilson's outburst. While, it may not have been respectful to Obama and the office of the presidency itself. I can only imagine how difficult it was to hear Obama tell one lie after another and not be able to respond.

--Gateway Pundit points out numerous instances where Obama states information that simply isn't true or is misinformation. And where he also throws in a bunch scare tactics for good measure.

--I was working out at the gym during the speech watching Fox News while doing cardio. I got to see first hand Obama playing the Teddycare card!

1) Patients With Terminal Illnesses Die Early Under British Health Care System--This is exactly what we have to look forward to if we get government run health care here. And as Patrick points out, I don't need some government bureaucracy deciding the timing and manner of my death.

2) Levi Johnston continues his smears and lies about Sarah Palin--Basically, when Levi told the truth about the Palin family, it wasn't what the Drive By Media wanted to hear, so it didn't make him any money. It sickens me though, how willing he is to throw his child's extended family under the bus for 5 minutes of fame and money. As GG points out, the left will exploit him like they have Meghan McCain and then spit him out when they are done. Despicable and disgusting!!

3) Speaking of throwing people under the bus, Alberto Gonzales betrays the loyalty shown him by George W. Bush and Supports the CIA Interrogation Probe--What is wrong with Gonzales? He has been called a weasel, coward and a loser for doing this. I'd have to say I agree with all three.

I have always loved Ari Fleischer and boy, did he score a home run with this one. The two words that came to my mind when I first saw this were, awesome and priceless! Rush is everyone's favorite whipping boy because he's such a huge threat. Yet, the hypocritical Drive by Media never apply the same standards to the liberals as they do to conservatives.

Ari gives them a taste of their own medicine by throwing Keith Olbermann under the bus and he leaves both of Olbermann's colleagues speechless. I hate it when that happens ;-)!
