It was really interesting to see Multimedia out of anything. A barcode, a toilet, and other things. I think that this was very interesting because it was very diverse. Different things and different experiences. The two artwork that I want to hightlight would be the toilet and the pet. I think that the idea of having a toilet as a music instrument is something that I would've never imagined. This created different sounds, that when mixed together you could create a bit. I found this artwork really interactive, each person can create a different mood for this. Also the bot was very interesting. Just by scanning the barcodes the dog could move forwards or backwars. An interesting way of controlling this. I think all of this exhibitions where very unique.

mori

I think Mori was really interesting. At first I saw it only as something regular, only sounds and darkness. After that I started to analaze it. Just the fact that I could expirment something that was impossible to feel through a computer and sound, was amazing. This artwork remind of the first time that I went to Disneyland. in Disneyland the fact that I could experiment this things( the future, the speed of sound, etc) was also amazing. In Mori I found amazing the way that the sounds and the vibration came off the floor and the speacker. How everything was interalated to create something that represents the voice of the earth

The beginning of the journey begins in the parking lot of the Arlington Cementery
The first thing I saw were these buses that give group tours.
Architectural building in the cementery
Great service for the handicapped people. 40 % of the spaces were for handicapped.
Well, at least they are mentioning it.
Information desk. First of all Walk was created by Motomichi Nakamura. Most of Nakamura’s work deal with violence and humanity, putting them together in a series of animations. The peace of work that I am presenting today is titled Walk. Walk is about the different feelings and fears people have when they are having a nightmare. This illusion is created by four loops of animations in which there is a faceless character that represents the fear that people experience in a nightmare.
These four loops of animation represent the different angles that a person has in a nightmare. It also represents the irrational side of most nightmares. Nakamura shows these effects by having four different windows and in each one there is a faceless character. In the first window this character is very close and to me represents the persistent part of a nightmare. The other windows are represented by the same character who walks from far away getting closer and closer every time. In these windows the faceless character is being shot and as in nightmares instead of dying something irrational happens, the character is multiplies.
I think this artwork is in a way a combination of the five characteristics that Multimedia has: Integration, Interactivity, Hypermedia, Immersion, Narrativity.
First of all Nakamura used the computer, a tool of technology to create this art of work. He uses color animation sound and image, different kind of media to integrate it all into this.
Although the user cannot alter or change the artwork I still think there is some kind of interactivity. The only thing the user can do to alter this artwork is to close different windows and have a different perspective, but I think that the main interactivity is the one that the user is able to feel as one was part of the nightmare experiencing the telepresence.
There is also a connection between the three windows that creates hypermedia because one window is supported by the other one to create the illusion. All of those windows are separated windows that combine in one whole single animation.
I think that of all the characteristics Immersion would be the one that defines this work the most. I give a lot of credit to Nakamura for making this three dimensional effect in his work not only visually but also in the sense that you feel part of the nightmare, as if it was my nightmare.
The last thing here is the narrativity that unifies all of the other characteristics. Everything on stage is makes one whole. For example, the music, the costumes, the acting, everything forms the opera. The same with Multimedia that is combined by music, film, design or more things all that combine one whole, Multimedia. It is also great to see what the components are to be able to understand Multimedia. For example interactivity that is the most importat. There is not only one author, but also the reader is the author because he can add or expand to the idea of the author

hirshhorn museum

I found the exposition very interesting. It was very cool to see all of those shapes moving around while the music was playing. For me that was kind of linear becuase everything was set. But when the other piece was shown without music was even better because the person seen it was able to create his own music on his mind depending on the movements and the color of the shapes. Also I thought the light painting was very interesting.

cyborg

it's interesting to see the concepts that Mann has and all of the acomplisments he has like being a engenier, a social activist and more. It is also interesting to see the way he uses the computer being a cyborg. At this time the things that Mann created might seem out of contex or ridiculus for many people, but I think that in a future this will be a reality. For example that the computer is now used for more things that just a simple calculator, and that the computer make thigs easer for us. However there are some aspects of the computer that I disagree. For example, some people create the internet a way of life. I personally disagree with the idea of interacting with people just through chat rooms, instead of personally talking. In some ways I see the way of changing the personality just a way of fun, or maybe also as way of discovering things that one didn't know about himself before, but it also may bring some problems.
