A wonderful time was to be had at the Deb Canham Tea Party....

....The day started with a Quiz and ended with an Auction of one off pieces.

Well the very first task was to find a seat for everyone....

Once seated, it was heads down and the quiz was in full swing....

Do you think teacher would notice if we did the quiz together, I must admit even together our answers were wrong.

Well not many answers being found at this table ladies, talking in class will bring low scores.

After we had taxed everyones brain, it was time for Tea, and a chance for some retail therapy.

.....The sixth of Beatrix Potter's little books, The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-winkle was first published in 1905. The story follows a meticulous washer-woman completing her bundles of laundry.

The character was inspired by a Kitty McDonald, Scottish washerwoman, "a comical, round little old woman, as brown as a berry and wears a multitude of petticoats".

Many of Beatrix Potter's story-book animals were based on her own pets to which she often gave human qualities. Beatrix's tame hedgehog, which she had named "Mrs. Tiggy-winkle", did her duty as a model for the illustrations: "So long as she can go to sleep on my knee she is delighted, but if she is propped up on end for half an hour, she first begins to yawn pathetically, and then she does bite! Nevertheless she is a dear person."

For 2008, John and Susan Wright are proud to add Mrs. Tiggy-winkle™, to their highly-acclaimed Beatrix Potter Collection.

Measuring approximately 12" tall, this delightful roly-poly character is fully jointed and constructed of the finest custom made mohair plush and cotton.
She features realistic coloring, a molded nose, glass eyes, inset whiskers, and separate fingers with resin claws.

Mrs. Tiggy-winkle comes outfitted in a layered felt and cotton costume which will include custom printed fabrics in the soft, delicate shades of the watercolor illustrations.
Her spiky tipped mohair pokes through the fabric of her organdy bonnet and on her feet she wears hand cobbled felt and leather boots.

In one hand, Mrs. Tiggy-winkle holds a quilted felt potholder and her own custom made miniature sadiron!

No detail has been overlooked in striving for the utmost in accuracy to the original Beatrix Potter images.

Produced in a numbered limited edition of just 500 pieces worldwide, Mrs.

We are pleased to bring to the blog an exciting new One-of-a-Kind piece created by R John Wright exclusively for this year's Doll and Teddy Bear event at Walt Disney World.

"SING SWEET NIGHTINGALE" joins the list of elaborate and rare One-of-a-Kind pieces created by R. John Wright Dolls for the annual Disney event.

Cinderella is one of the most well-known and beloved of the classic animated feature films. Released in 1950, this was the first full-feature production by the Disney Studio since Bambi in 1942. Cinderella marked a welcome return to the classic fairy tale form, but at a cost of nearly 3 million dollars, the film was regarded as a major gamble. Insiders claimed that if the movie failed at the box office, Disney would be forced to close its doors as the studio was heavily in debt at the time. Fortunately, the film was a resounding success both critically and financially which allowed Disney to open Disneyland and carry on producing films throughout the 1950s. Cinderella remains among the crown jewels of classic Disney animation.

The Sing Sweet Nightingale One-of-a-Kind from R. John Wright is a completely authentic reproduction of Cinderella as she appeared dressed in her scullery rags scrubbing the floor. Measuring approximately 9" seated, Cinderella is constructed of the finest all-wool felt with molded and hand painted features and a hand-knotted mohair wig. Cinderella's wears a cotton and felt costume with hand cobbled leather slippers. A delicate custom handblown glass bubble balances on her fingertips. The figure is posed with a hand carved wooden bucket filled with glass bubbles, miniature bristle scrub brush, and bar of soap on a specially created hand painted background display. Every detail has been meticulously researched for the utmost in authenticity. Overall height including background: 20". Included is a deluxe bound certificate of authenticity hand signed by R. John Wright and Susan Wright.

Sing Sweet Nightingale was on display for the first and only time at the Doll and Teddy Bear Weekend at Walt Disney World and was offered for sale during a special auction held on May 18th at 7:30 PM EST. Sing Sweet Nightingale realized $10,000 - the highest price of the auction event.

...Sunday .

The weather was good to us, and even with the threat of a Petrol Strike, you came to see us.

10 O'Clock was fast approaching and a queue was beginning to form, the doors opened and the day began.

Hugging was the order of the day, followed by lots of chatting, strength was kept up for these two activities, with the help of wine and nibbles.

A new adventure for Charlie and William was revealed on the day in the shape of a new Rabbit called Frankie.

Frankie and Charlie Bears walked the the red carpet at the premiere of the new british comedy film >>

The Nation wide release of the movie is the 25th April.

Frankie is a first for Charlie and William as it is a dressed Non Jointed Piece, he is 21" Tall RRP £22.99.

Charlie was on hand to sign pieces and many a bear found new homes to go to including our wonderful Store Exclusive Appledore from the Isabelle Collection.

Appledore is sold out now, but we will hope to have another edition soon, so keep an eye on the web site or your Newsletter for more information.

Other exciting news to do with Charlie Bears is that Steff and I will be opening a Showroom for the collection at the Office in Shirley Croydon and we hope to have a signing event in the Bromley area.
