Up until now, I have not had a desire to do a marathon, but for some reason the Bizz Johnson Marathon caught my eye. First of all it is all on trail – and a very nice trail at that. Secondly, the course is perfectly suited to me – 10 miles gradually up and then 16 miles gradually down. The only factor that I wasn’t Heather Fuhrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11897804249362638255noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10527792.post-70880036215923706792007-09-11T11:07:00.000-07:002007-09-11T11:11:11.646-07:00Ironman Canada 2007 Race ReportI am happy to say that the 25th running of the Subaru Ironman Canada is now one for the record books. The event in itself certainly did not disappoint. Having never raced this race, despite being a Canadian and having race Ironman races for 18 years – I did not know what to expect. I remember how much support the race received from the community the last time I was here watching many, many years Heather Fuhrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11897804249362638255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10527792.post-26752987310440477662007-07-29T20:19:00.000-07:002007-07-29T20:22:29.812-07:00Back in the Swing of ThingsSince the last update, I have been keeping very busy with working, training and racing. This season is all about balance, and doing things that I want to do. Because of this, I have jumped into many more local short races than I normally would. In the past I never really wanted to do a race unless I knew I was prepared. Well for the most part this season, that would mean that I would never be Heather Fuhrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11897804249362638255noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10527792.post-1175890908566470212007-04-06T13:12:00.000-07:002007-04-06T15:29:19.283-07:002007 Early Season UpdateWe I guess it is about time for an update, since we are already into April. It seems that the time is just flying by – wasn’t New Year’s just last week?? This season has been a little different for me so far – as work has taken more of a forefront thus far. A huge congratulations to Michellie Jones (Australia) and Normann Stadler (Germany) for their impressive race from the front wins!!! For Michellie it was her first win here in only her second appearance and for Normann it is his second title after a disappointing race here last year. A lot has happened since then, and now it is already time to get started in the final preparation for Ironman Hawaii on Oct 21st. It has been a fun 3 months since Ironman Japan, and I have enjoyed doing some shorter races and getting away from the norm by doing some paddleboarding and mountain biking. After Ironman Japan, IHeather Fuhrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11897804249362638255noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10527792.post-1148839364449813372006-05-28T11:00:00.000-07:002006-05-28T11:02:44.470-07:00The 2006 Racing Season Finally BeginsThis season has been a little different than any other. Being sick for the better part of a couple of months left me questioning when I was going to get my racing season started. My plan was to do some 70.3 races early and then Ironman Coeur D’alene. Well the 70.3 races never happened, and due to certain commitments it looked like IM CDA was going to be questionable. I have enjoyed these past couple of months since the Ford Ironman World Championships. It was quite clear after the race, that I needed to step away from things to gain some perspective and to give my body and mind some much needed rest. I have done just that. I have always preached to Heather Fuhrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11897804249362638255noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10527792.post-1129740838457059882005-10-19T09:52:00.000-07:002005-10-19T09:53:58.466-07:00Ironman Hawaii 2005We as we all know, the Ironman World Championship for 2005 are now in the record books. It was a tough day at the office for me. After 15 years, I have experienced the gamut of emotions and performances out on the lava fields. There are those great days, there are those good days, and then there are the days like I had on Saturday. Here is a little account of how things went on race day. Every year, time seems to go by faster and faster. It is really hard to believe that in less than 2 weeks we will be boarding our flight for Kona – for the 15th time. Yep, this will be the 15th time I have competed in Kona!!!! In some respects it feels every bit of the 15 years, but in other ways, it feels like just yesterday Heather Fuhrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11897804249362638255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10527792.post-1124410404771133672005-08-18T17:09:00.000-07:002005-08-18T17:13:24.780-07:00Heather Fuhr –More than a Pretty FaceLynne Bermel wrote this great article for runnersweb.com. Everyone in the town has adopted me as their hometown favorite, which makes it awesome out on the course. This year I had a motto in my head, the “drive for 5 in 2005”. I was trying to win my 5th title here in Lake Placid and what a better year than 2005. I have been doing a fair bit of traveling over the last month or so. The traveling included, a race in Kona and a trip to Lake Placid for the Multisports.com camp. I was very excited to be heading to Kona to do the Honu Half Ironman on June 5th. I have raced this race every year, and fully planned to start my season off with this race. My body had other plans – a little hip injury had flared up and I needed to make the hard decision not to race. I could have kept training through and been ready to race but Heather Fuhrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11897804249362638255noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10527792.post-1108582120037431042005-02-16T11:27:00.000-08:002005-02-17T07:18:05.676-08:00TriDubai Triathlon Team AnnouncedI am very excited to announce that I am part of a new and exciting triathlon team called TriDubai. It is hard to believe that we are now into 2005. I have been thoroughly enjoying the off-season, doing the thing that I don't usually have time to do. A Christmas tradition is that I bake cookies and send baskets to close friends and sponsors. Happy New Year! Heather, Roch, Nadine and Cleatus This process has evolved over the past few years.
