When it’s been verified, it will appear in your Profile along with your personal information (Profile), your Friends, and any Classifieds ads you have active. From here you can fully maintain your listing at any time without the need to come through us.

What do I have to do?
Once you have registered / logged in, click the ‘Classifieds’ tab and choose ‘Add Classifieds / My Business’, and click on ‘+ add business’.

Introducing Spot’s New Business Directory

So, what’s new about our online Business Finder? Well, we’ve listened to your feedback and based our improvements on your experiences online.

We have added functions to ‘search for’ and then ‘refine’ the listings. We’ve found it the most effective method of locating the listing you need. You can search in one of two fields by company name or ‘key word’ and you can refine your reach results by location and subcategory. You’ll be aided by our autosuggest function that will help you see the options tagged within the database.

We’ve improved the design of the results page and replaced the scrolling function with ‘pages’ that will be familiar from the new ‘Classifieds’ section. This makes it easier for you to navigate. Similarly, we’ve added sorting options (A-Z, Relevance and Popularity) and the ability to view 10, 30 or 50 results per page to aid viewing your results.

Our aim is ensure listings are easy to find, view and add, and that existing businesses are ‘claimed’ by business owners.

If you have ever advertised on Spotredsea.com, then you will already be a member of our site. Following changes made to our user profile, you can now interact with your friends, message new contacts and actively manage your classified adverts.

These improvements mean the site is more interactive and easier than ever to use. Simply log in, click on the ‘Classifieds’ tab and go to ‘Add Classifieds’. Here you are able to update and expand your personal details, view, edit and add your classifieds, maintain your friends list and stay in touch!

Find friends old and new through the ‘Members’ tab; enter your search criteria, or search by name in the search box in the top right corner of the Homepage. Once found, click on their ‘label’ and add them to your friends list.

To help you manage your Classifieds and contacts, our new alert system lets you know by email when your ad is near to expiring, when you have added a new friend, and when you have received mail. It even confirms registration, and can help you reset a forgotten password.

Yes it's live! & It's Free ... our Spot Classifieds new service is online now. We are offering you a tool to advertise your classifieds online for free.

You can search in our classifieds directory easily, just click on the classifieds tab on the top, choose the desired categories (jobs, classified ads, Real Estate & Events) then click "Find Classifieds" button.

This will open the classifieds page where you can filter your search using the refining options on the left, or you can use the sort option on the top right of our labels and select the number of results per page.

For adding your classifieds, please send all your classified ads on classifieds@spotredsea.com with your contact information and we'll publish them for you and update you when they are ready.

On 27 September 2007 Amir did commit number 1000 in our source control SVN.
And after 8 months on 27 May 2008 Geeee did commit number 1500.

When Amir did the 1000th commit it was for something great and very important for our website, it was the calender "the main component in our sites".

And when Geeee did the 1500th commit, what happened??!! , lets see the next few days :) .

Chris' Birthday

Another Birthday in Spot's Team: On May 15th Chris, Managing Director of Spot Local started a new year of her life with a small surprise party in her office.

The plan was as follows: Chris comes to work and finds the whole team gathered around a big bouquet and a birthday cake singing happy birthday.

But since nothing comes as planned in life: Chris was off on that day!

However we arranged a big bunch of flowers and took off to get some of Corsini's delicious cakes. Since a birthday cake is the center of any birthday party (besides the birthday kid ;)) its security was our highest priority! :D Properly fastened with the seat-belt the cakes arrived the office safe and unharmed.

The only problem was: How to get the birthday girl to the office...

Chris was asked to come in under the guise of having an urgent meeting with the lawyer. What she found in the office was relieving: A room filled with flower scent and a smiling team with cakes, singing happy birthday.

My favorite of Chris' bold comments: We should hire some singers ;)

New Readable Footer

"Footer? You must be kiddin'?!!"

No I'm not. In today's online design patterns and trends, each element in any website is very important as much as the content of this site itself, to the extent that the footer can make or break the website.

Why?! .. let me give you a small example.

Let's say you went for a walk in a nice road, where trees on both sides full of roses and you can feel the fresh air touching your face skin. You are happy with your walk, then suddenly you found yourself crossing a dark part of this street and you can't see its end because it's not clear for you.

You are going to feel bad for a couple of minutes and you'll do one of two things:

Either you'll go back to the shiny part from the road while reminding yourself each time that you'll never get close to that darkness part again. Or, you will find the nearest shortcut from you and go through it to another road.

The website is the same as the road, and the footer is the end of this road. it's the same feeling you'll get if the footer is not clear and full of informative useful links that can keep you "walking" through any website.

Our new footer is more readable and useful after changing the background and the text colors, and updated links to most of our sections and services. Also with the ability of expanding or collapsing it, you have even more control over the footer either to keep it open, or to close it whenever you like.

I know it's been long time ago since my last post. And I know that you are curious about what's going on in Spot Labs ;)

3 Months ago, Spot Team had set for a huge meeting with all Spot members to sum up all what had been done last year & to see what we are up to in the new one; and in the next phase of Spot Local Network. I don't have to tell you that we really have a big list of the new features and services we are planning to add to our network, plus lots and lots of enhancements and fixes for everything in order to optimize our tools that make the online experience for our users with Spot sites a pleasure; as they will enjoy each time they use Spot sites.

In the next posts, I'll explain each feature or service one by one and how you can get the most of them; as I believe that the more knowledge you know about any of them, the more pleasure and fun you will get from each.

Many people worry about robots will take over people. It is true. The robots will take over people one day. This will help employer to get richer and profits. So they will do it. Living in Hurghada –let’s do the washing!

Hi everybody:-D

A girl who will move to Hurghada next month asked me to write a post about “how and where to do the washing”.

Some buildings have a washing machine for all flats –for this extra you have to pay whether an additional fee or it is already in the rent included.

If you have bad luck it looks like this washing machine, hehe, no no, just kidding:-D

In my first flat I just had a half-automatic washing machine.. I just tried to wash my clothes one time..after three hours I gave up –and brought my stuff to the laundry. But try the laundry with an old pullover:-D.

Finally I found a really good laundry and I am not getting nervous any more to leave my clothes there:-D

For the cleaning of a pullover or trousers you have to pay round about 1 – 2 pounds (20-40 Cents).

If you don’t trust the guys at the laundry I suggest to buy a new washing machine! (250-300 Euros).

I am in a hurry now-my laundry was closed for some days and I really need my clothes:-D

10 New Year Resolutions to Boost your Business - By Miles Burke

So, i was looking around on the internet trying to see what different companies were doing in the New Year to improve and i came by the great article by Miles Burke. Read it... You might get inspired

Here are ten simple New Year resolutions for 2008; all are tried and tested techniques to boost your business and, best of all, they're achievable. Set aside a little time every week for the next year, and see if you can chip away at some of them.

1. Start setting goals.

Embracing even these ten resolutions for the coming year illustrates the power of goal setting. Many of us wander through life without really considering where we want to be. A good analogy is planning a trip from Point A to Point B. As important as it is that you sort out transport, supplies, timelines, and other elements, the most important tool for the journey is to know how to get there. Unless you have a plan, you'll never arrive at your destination.

2. Ask a client for a referral.

It seems simple, yet many business owners never consider asking their existing clients for contacts with others who may need your services. It can seem to be a hurdle to ask the first few times, but it doesn't need to be. Your request could even something as simple as an email sent at the end of a project to ask the client for feedback on the project, followed by a simple "If you know anybody who might appreciate our services, please recommend us."

3. Focus on profit, not turnover.

Over the years, I've met business owners who are ecstatic about their increasing turnover, but neglect to watch their profits. A business making a profit margin of 20% on a monthly turnover of $10,000 is far ahead of a business with a turnover of $100,000 that makes only a 1% profit margin.

Sure, turnover's great and it is important, but how would you feel if you could make twice as much profit for a tenth of the effort (and risk). Doesn't that sound tempting? Look at tactics such as reducing overheads, increasing your rates, letting less profitable clients go, and focussing on your high profit activities. Never underestimate the returns of even a small increase to your hourly rate.

4. Learn something new about business.

Ask any entrepreneur about their knowledge, and you'll normally find the most successful people are those who are willing to admit their own weaknesses. It's a fact - we can't be born experts in everything to do with business, but with some dedication, we can get a little smarter. Ask yourself where you feel your business knowledge weaknesses are, then find a course or books that can help you to learn more. There are plenty of short courses that only require an hour or two a week, as well as online courses, blogs and web sites that can help you boost your business knowledge. Find your local library and join up -- most libraries have hundreds of books on business topics.

5. Take time for yourself.

Ask any business leader his or her number one complaint, and the most common reply will be that there's not enough time to spend with family or on hobbies. The most disturbing part is that it's often not the demands of business that absorb all of our time. We've become used to working long hours, when in actual fact, being smarter about how you spend your office time can allow you to enjoy more home time.

Try planning activities that require your attention out of the office and away from communication -- take a walk with your children, go camping for a weekend, or head to a museum and turn off your phone. If the thought of having an email-free evening scares you, your business is in control of you, and you're not in control of your business.

6. Create products that generate income.

Web workers need to stop and take a look at many software developers, and how they build and resell their Intellectual Property. Take stock of your own tools and techniques, and look for methods of creating assets that you can monetize, or better still, will generate recurring income. Have a content management system? Explore licensing models, rather than simply selling it. Even seemingly simple elements, such as email forms, slideshows, and other items, could be written in a modular way that allows you to easily tweak a configuration here and there, and saves you hours of work.

7. Delegate effectively.

We all want to work less and earn more. Here's one of the greatest secrets of time management: successful delegation. Start by writing down every activity you undertake for an entire week, then review the results.

There are likely a number of activities that don't help you achieve your goals, or could be done by other team members. Focus on working to get those low-payoff activities either delegated or dumped.

8. Focus on client service.

It's easy when you're absorbed in delivering to tight deadlines, juggling 100 projects, or just having a manic few weeks to forget the reason you have this work. That reason is clients. Clients matter, so unless you're hoping to lose a few, you'd better remember what it's like to be a client, and recall your memories of the best service you've ever received.

Now, set yourself a challenge to outdo that service experience, and outdo it over and over again. Take a look at every method by which you have contact with clients -- telephone, emails, meetings, even invoices. Is there something you can change to ensure the relationships that you are building now will be long lasting?

9. Take time to wander the Web.

Set aside some regular time to aimlessly wander the Web. I'm not talking researching competitors, or checking sites you already frequently read. Cast the net wider, and follow more links. You'll no doubt stumble onto blogs or web sites which may hold inspiration, education, or just plain harmless fun. No matter what, there's a good chance your wanderings will be good for the mind and soul. Wander the Web, follow your instincts from link to link, and discover the 99.9% of the Web that you never visit when you're stuck working in your own digital ecosystem.

10. Build rock-solid procedures.

The right procedures will make your business run more efficiently. A good system will allow for increased workload and reduce the amount of effort you need to spend on repetitive activities. How did you celebrate the New Year´s Eve?

I spent the night with three Dutch friends at “La Luna” – a nice Italian restaurant in Sekalla, Sheraton Street.

After having pasta with salmon (my favorite main course) I couldn’t resist to try the tiramisu…at least one million calories but sooooooo good:-D
Chatting, laughing, drinking rosé wine and dancing…

...really perfect beginning of 2008 –thanks to the cute “La Luna-Team”and Barbara, Silvia & Peggy -you are lovely:-D

Living in Hurghada - Christmas Parties

Hello everybody:-D

How did you spend your Christmas time? I hope you had a lot of fun like me:D

Our company celebrated Christmas with a staff party at HedKandi in Sekalla. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great as you can see. Thanks Chris and Sabina to sponsor it and thanks to Natalie and Ramy to be the “last minute-organizers”

Christmas time in Hurghada is different because my family is not here but one thing is the same: eating, eating and eating. Here you see some friends preparing an Egyptian dinner in their flat.. mmmm, it was really good:-D

The next evening we had an invitation from Sheraton Miramar, El Gouna for a Christmas Party.

The decoration was amazing, the music very festive. Christmas feeling at its best and the food:D, so so delicious. Thanks Heba!

That was just a very short report because the next party is already waiting:-D ….celebrate the New Year as much as you can:-D I wish you health, joy, happiness, success and all the best for 2008!!
