And I'll agree that that program may have had beneficial effects in horrible school systems, such as the D.C. system you like to cite. But for schools that were already performing, and this is from the administrators, it's just been another set of hoops to jump through.padraighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02225292987748903589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10381465.post-73189956212595021592008-06-12T12:48:00.000-07:002008-06-12T12:48:00.000-07:00They - the treated, the cured, the family of the c...They - the treated, the cured, the family of the cured -probably will forget who stood up for the unborn (and the women)
and thus forced much stem cell research to stay within ethical limits
---so the W they think of (as they celebrate their improved health)
---will only be "WOW!"viking momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16266731470162269279noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10381465.post-29201837376993913852008-06-12T12:42:00.000-07:002008-06-12T12:42:00.000-07:00What specific educational policies would those be ...What specific educational policies would those be padraig? As far as I know, he hasn't restricted the teaching of science in any way.

He has required testing to determine whether kids are actually learning something, but that would promote good science education, it seems to me, although that is beyond my area of informed opinion.Wesley J. Presumably the people publishing papers and winning Nobel Prizes finished up their basic schooling well before W took office, so the effects of his educational policies won't be seen for some time.

And if you want to see what restrictive governmental policy does to research, look no farther than Great Britain. The animal rights movement and other forces have hamstrung their research to the point that anyone wishing to do meaningful research comes here. I live in a University community and it seems I'm always meeting new brilliant researchers with some variant of an English/Scots/Irish accent.padraighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02225292987748903589noreply@blogger.com
