They invited me for a walk and I went, even though I was smack in the middle of cooking my first ever quinoa. I left it right there on the stove, told the husband to poke at it with a spoon until it was done, and burst out onto the sidewalk like a desperate fool. They were nice and we walked through a gorgeous cool drizzle. Their future BFF potential is yet to be determined. B) Was walking the pug when an elderly neighbor ran at me from across the street. She was in her house, then she full-on stormed the lawn and hollered. Turns out she wanted to introduce herself. She and her husband are retired; they like to sit out on their porch and watch the people go by. They had seen me the day before, poking down the street with sweaty child-arms adhered to my neck (the arms were attached to an actual child -- don't worry). The woman just wanted to say hi, stop by sometime, welcome to the neighborhood. C) Was using a weed-whacker for the very first time, on my red brick driveway which is more green these days than red. The guy who cares for one of the lawns nearby saw me and came over to make a suggestion. He named a product we should use to rid our driveway of growth once and for all. I did not write it down, but I believe it was something along the lines of "Vegetation Kill Dead". He told me it would take a full day to apply, and that it might kill my dog.
