Just one more week left until we begin accepting children's spring clothing! If you haven't started preparing your kid's clothing for consignment check out howtoconsign.com for ideas on how to prepare your items. This site will help you prepare your items so you can get the most money possible out of them.

Beginning Monday February 8th we will accept children's clothing on Monday through Thusday between the hours of 10:30 and 4:00. Clothing should be freshly laundered, pressed, and in boxes, tubs or bin. No appointment is necessary! We will begin accepting Women's clothing on February 22nd. These items should be on hangers. If you are looking to consign spring items be sure and read the following information. We will begin accepting women's and children's spring clothing consignment on February 8th.

Drop off hours:

   Mon-Thur 10:30am-4:00pm
   Sat 10:30am-3:00pm
   No drop-offs on Friday please

Clothes should be freshly laundered, pressed, and no more than 3 seasons old.
Children's clothing should be in a box, tub, or bin. No plastic bags.
Women's clothing should be pressed and on hangers.
Equipment and toys should be wiped down and have batteries.
If you have more than 2 bins please call before coming in.
Clothing with safety pins will not be accepted.

Just a reminder that through the Holidays our hours have changed slightly:

Starting this Wednesday, December 16th we will close at 6pm. Our Wednesday hours will be 10am to 6pm through January, with normal Wednesday hours beginning February 3rd from 10am to 7pm.

Thursday, December 24th- Saturday, December 26th CLOSED

We will be opening Monday, December 28th with normal store hours from 10am to 5pm.

On Thursday, December 31st we will be closing at 3pm and will be closed Friday, January 1st. We will be open on Saturday, January 2nd with normal store hours from 10am to 4pm.

We are still accepting fall clothing for consignment. We accept infants clothing through size 14, both boys and girls, maternity clothing, and women's clothing, including plus sizes. We also are accepting infant equipment, including high chairs, exersaucers, strollers, jumparoos, bumbos, and many other items. All items and clothing need to be 3 years old or newer, clothing freshly laundered, and all equipment wiped down. Items needing batteries do need working batteries. Children's clothing should be in boxes, tubs, and bins, absolutely no plastic bags. Women's clothing needs to be on hangers (hangers will not be returned, but please ask us we usually have extra).

If you wish to drop off items we accept items Monday through Thursday between the hours of 10:30 and 4:00pm and Saturday's between 10:30 and 3:00pm. We are no longer taking items on Friday's. If these hours do not work for you please call and we can make other arrangements. We also have extended hours on Wednesday and are open until 7:00pm.

Summer happenings at Another Time Around

There is a lot of exciting happenings in the store!

1: The new women's store is fully stocked and open. Wow! Have we gotten some great items in! The selection is unbelievable, from Coach purses and B's purses, to a phenomenal selection of clothing. We have everyday wear to formal wear, and the shoes are unbelievable (especially if you are in a size 8.5-9).

2: New French Toast uniforms are now available. We are carrying both boys and girls navy slacks. We have boys sizes 4-20, and girls 4-16. Boys navy shorts are available in size 4-20. The white polo shirts (both long and short sleeved) are unisex and available in sizes 4-20. Shop early to be sure and get the sizes you need.

3: On July 13th you can start bringing in your children's fall consignments. No appointments are necessary at this time. Drop off are accepted between the hours of 10:30 and 4 M-F, and Sat 10:30-3pm. Clothing should be freshly laundered and laid neetly in boxes, tubs, or bins. Items should be no more than 3 years old. Clutter Guilt
You walk by that overstuffed closet four times a day and feel that same guilty pang every single time. Or you gaze helplessly at your overflowing closet, shoe shelves, and dresser drawers and despair about where to even start! You know you would feel infinitely better about yourself if you just dug it all out and got rid of the clutter.

You imagine the freedom of filling trashbag after trashbag and just throwing it all out...but then there's that pang of guilt again, because throwing it away is so wasteful, or you remember all the money you spent on the thingamabob that's still in the unopened box...so you cram it all back in and slam the door shut.

One step at a time, my friend. You can be free of your clutter and still sleep at night guilt-free!

1. Get two large cardboard boxes and one laundry basket. Tape a sign on each: "Donate" and "Trash" on the boxes and "Consign" on the laundry basket.

2. Women's, and children's clothing, shoes, and accessories in good condition that you don't wear anymore and outgrown go into the "Consign" basket. Usable items in working condition that you don't use go into the donate box. Items that would be no good to anyone (broken, missing pieces, very dirty, etc) go into the trash box.

3. As soon as you are done with your sort, close up the trash box and take out to your trashcan. Don't give yourself time to rethink; just do it.

4. Close up the donate box and take out to your vehicle. Again, don't give yourself time to think about it; just do it. The next time you go anywhere, swing by your local charity and drop it off. Remember to get a receipt for your tax-deductible donation.

5. Take the consign basket to a well-lighted area and do a quick check, making sure each item is free of stains and that zippers and buttons are present and working. Lay your items as flat as possible back into the laundry basket. Cover the basket with a clean bath towel and put in your car.

6. Head over to Another Time Around. You don't need an appointment; you can bring items between 10:30 and 4:00, Monday through Friday and 10:30 and 3:00 on Saturdays. You can choose to earn money with your items or accumulate store credit.

Yes, it is that easy! Guilt-free AND clutter-free...does it get any better?

Woman's consignment now open

We are excited to announce the opening of Another Time Around- Woman's Clothing and a whole lot more. The new store is located adjacent to our existing children's store at 12340 Shelbyville Rd. We have a items arriving daily, including clothing, purses, and shoes. We offer a wide selection from everyday wear, business, and formal wear. Some popular brands we have received include Ann Taylor, Diesel, It Jeans, and many more.

Another Time Around is also proud to announce an entire department devoted to maternity clothing. We are one of the few stores to offer a consigned maternity clothing in the Louisville Metro area. Maternity wear is worn for such a short time period, yet a very expensive investment. Shopping for consigned maternity clothing offers a great way to save large amounts of money yet still dress stylish.

As many of you know the recent lead laws have caused us to remove most of the used toys from the store. We have decided to add maternity clothing back to our product mix. Call early to book your appointment.

We are also accepting kids spring clothing, preemie through size 14, at this time. We are still consigning infant equipment and cribs, if we are able to verify there are no recalls.

Last night before our town hall meeting I stopped to see my kids at my mother in-laws. My 4 year old said to me "Mommy are you going to fight for the toys again?" I forget how much they see and hear and how different there perception is from ours. At times I feel like we are in a fight for our lives.

We are again asking you all to help with this fight. Senator DeMint introduced a bill that would be attached to the stimulus package. We are again asking you to call your senators/congressman and ask them to co-sponsor Senator DeMints bill. Below are the details of his bill. CONGRESS MUST KEEP OVERREACHING CONSUMER PRODUCTS SAFETY IMPROVEMENT ACT FROM HARMING SMALL BUSINESSES, FAMILIES

As you may be aware, beginning next month many of America’s small and home businesses will be forced to radically alter their practices and products as prescribed by the burdensome Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). This bill mandates stringent and overreaching federal standards, under the guise of safety requirements that will unfortunately threaten the well-being and further livelihood of thousands of America’s workers and their families. It was my position when the bill was being debated on the Senate floor, as it remains today, that this bill could have -- and should have -- better balanced the need for safety with a common-sense business approach.

In an effort to keep the doors of these small businesses open, and protect the livelihood of many families, I will be introducing legislation early next week that will present much needed reform to the CPSIA. This legislation will:

1)Delay the regulations six months. There is massive confusion and uncertainty in the small and home business community. The regulations are unclear and compliance will be practically impossible for many manufacturers. Further the comment period on many of the implementing regulations will extend beyond the February 10 deadline. When a clear path of compliance is not available, it is patently unfair to expect industry to be able to meet those compliance requirements. My bill will delay the implementation six months so that all parties can work together to address the needs of our small businesses and the needs of product safety.

2)Allow small manufacturers to use the testing and certification that their component suppliers have done to certify that the components do not contain an impermissible amount of lead. Lead isn’t going to come out of thin air. If the lead’s not in the components, it won’t be in the product. This will save small manufacturers from having to subject their products -- many of which are made in small runs -- to duplicative and expensive multi-thousand dollar tests.
Exempt thrift stores, yard sales, consignments shops and other re-sellers from the prohibitions in the act. Goodwill, the Salvation Army and your local flea market were never the source of the product safety concerns encountered last year, and they won’t be in the future. They are good actors trying to provide Americans of modest means with value oriented products. They shouldn’t be subjected to tens of thousands of dollars in potential liability. It these times of economic hardship it’s stores like Goodwill and the Salvation Army that we should be protecting.

3)Prevent retro-active enforcement of the act. There are millions of dollars of safe products in the warehouses and stores around the country today, that come February 10 will be un-sellable. These products have not threatened the safety of the public in any way, but because they haven’t been subjected to the expensive certification requirements of the act, retailers will not sell them and are often demanding that manufacturers eat their costs. It’s completely illogical that a product that’s safe for sale on February 9 somehow becomes completely unsafe on February 10. My bill will address this by only requiring that products manufactured after the effective date of the regulations have to comply with the requirements of the act. This will prevent thousands of products from being destroyed and the livelihood of thousands of businesses from being threatened.

4)Provide a Good-Faith Exemption. The act and its associated regulations are extremely complex. Small manufacturers are having difficulty understanding what the act requires of them. While many small businesses are doing their best to comply with the act it's possible someone could accidentally run afoul of the act. If they can show that their error was made in good-faith, my bill will provide them with a one-time exemption from sanction.

5)Require the CPSC to provide small businesses with a compliance guide. This is an extremely technical regulation that impacts a number of small businesses who don’t have multi-staff compliance departments to decipher the regulations for them. My bill would require the CPSC in consultation with the state and federal Small Business Administrations to develop a compliance guide that addresses the concerns of the small business community.

It is my sincere hope that these reforms will ensure that children’s products remain safe and that our small businesses remain afloat. In this time of economic uncertainty it is inexcusable that we are placing small businesses -- the proven engine of job creation -- in such peril.

Many of you do not see how the CPSIA may affect you individually. Please take a look at a blog I copied from Etsy. This may be far reaching and seem ludicrous to enforce but our government has a very far reaching hand. We need to stand up and let them know we are not happy with this law.

As parents and concerned citizens I’m sure most of us at one time or another have been confronted with the question of lead poisoning. But have you asked yourself what your government is doing to protect your children from lead contained in toys? The answer? They're banning toys, taking books from schools and libraries, hurting low income families, killing entrepreneurial spirit and risking putting the economy in an even greater depression than we've seen in decades. I'd like to introduce you to their solution: the CPSIA.

Do you know about the CPSIA? No? Then I ask you to take a few minutes to find out about it.

The CPSIA stands for Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, a new set of laws that will come into effect on 10 February, 2009 and will impact many, many people in a negative way. Make no mistake, this is very real. View it for yourself. If Forbes, the American Library Association and numerous other media are paying attention, perhaps you should too.

How will these new laws affect you? Well, here are a few examples:

To the Parents of Young Students:
Due to the new law, expect to see the cost of school supplies sky rocket. While those paper clips weren't originally intended for your student to use, they will need to be tested now that your 11-year-old needs them for his school project. This law applies to any and all school supplies (textbooks, pencils, crayons, paper, etc.) being used by children under 12.

To the Avid Reader:
Due to the new law, all children's books will be pulled from library and school shelves, as there is no exemption for them. That’s okay though, there's always television. Our children don’t need to learn the love of reading after all.

To the Lover of All Things Handmade:
Due to the new law, you will now be given a cotton ball and an instruction manual so you can make it yourself since that blanket you originally had your eye on for $50 will now cost you around $1,000 after it's passed testing. It won't even be the one-of-a-kind blanket you were hoping for. Items are destroyed in the testing process making one-of-a-kind items virtually impossible. So that gorgeous hand-knit hat you bought your child this past winter won’t be available next winter.

To the Environmentalist:
Due to the new law, all items in non-compliance will now be dumped into our already overflowing landfills. Imagine not just products from the small business owners, but the Big Box Stores as well. You can't sell it so you must toss it. Or be potentially sued for selling it. You can't even give them away. If you are caught, it is still a violation.

To the Second-Hand Shopper:
Due to the new law, you will now need to spend $20 for that brand new pair of jeans for your 2-year old, rather than shop at the Goodwill for second hand. Many resale shops are eliminating children's items all together to avoid future lawsuits.

To the Entrepreneur:
Due to this new law, you will be forced to adhere to strict testing of your unique products or discontinue to make and/or sell them. Small businesses will be likely to be unable to afford the cost of testing and be forced to close up shop. Due to the current economic state, you'll have to hope for the best when it comes to finding a new job in Corporate America.

To the Antique Toy Collector:
Due to the new law, you'd better start buying now because it's all going to private collection and will no longer be available to purchase. “Because the new rules apply retroactively, toys and clothes already on the shelf will have to be thrown out if they aren't certified as safe.” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123189645948879745.html

To the American Economy:
Already struggling under an economy that hasn’t been this weak in decades, the American economy will be hit harder with the inevitable loss of jobs and revenues from suppliers, small businesses and consumers. The required testing is far too costly and restrictive for small businesses or individuals to undertake.

To the Worldwide Economy:
Due to this new law, many foreign manufacturers have already pulled out of the US market. You can imagine the impact of this on their businesses.
