Who is talking about the loss of American rights?

To tell the truth, I know very little about DeLay's case other than it has to do with PAC money and such. Yawn...

I am ALL for term limits, campaign reform (NOT the ditching of the Electoral College however...people don't know what they are asking for in that ignorant debate) and hey, for sending Congress home to their real jobs when there is nothing to do, if only to keep them from spending more, taxing more, and wasting more...

How about a flat VAT tax too? Get rid of most of the IRS, and force the flood of lawyers and accountants to find real work to pursue? You want to write about abuses and threats to your freedom and property? The NSA doesn't have time to listen in to your conversations (most being computer searches on keywords anyway) so it would be the IRS that I would be more worried about in that regard. Of course, careful what you write, as Rep Hansen from Idaho found out years ago. Great book he wrote "To Harass Our People" though I don't know if it is still in print or accessible.... He, as you may know, ended up in jail and died not too long ago....Chasehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12938555045277772398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10248241.post-1136654780435871262006-01-07T12:26:00.000-05:002006-01-07T12:26:00.000-05:00Obviously Delay is not the only crook. BUT, he was in a position of top leadership, selling out the government and even influence to the White House indirectly. Scapegoats are people who had nothing to do with the big issue. He did. So, he should go away. And, the rest of them should be prosecuted too. The "others are doing it too" defence is no defence. By that token an arrested murderer would ask to go free because so many other murders are unsolved and he should not be a scapegoat.

Thanks.

ImranImran Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03919552891874811342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10248241.post-1136654315500202892006-01-07T12:18:00.000-05:002006-01-07T12:18:00.000-05:00I hope that people like DeLay do not serve as scap...I hope that people like DeLay do not serve as scapegoats to make the public think that they got the few bad apples to appease them. I know a lot of people speculated a similar situation in the steroids scandal in baseball when Rafael Palmero tested positive. There was a lot of attention made to the point that this was a high profile player but then nobody else that was high profile tested positive after that. I find it extremeley unlikely that he was the only one. I don't know if a situation like this would apply to politics but then again the players had to testify to congress about their integrity. How ironic...Imran Farooqhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10423126999572044334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10248241.post-1136484401442742652006-01-05T13:06:00.000-05:002006-01-05T13:06:00.000-05:00an interesting and knowledgable piece!an interesting and knowledgable piece!n.knoreply@blogger.com
