And as I've said, I "trust" that both governments will exercise complete cooperation to fully unravel the truth. I'm sure the citizens of both nations want justice.

But yes, there has been instances of U.S. military personnel sexually violating women and even children in Japan.Senor Enriquehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00872039827792703974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10248241.post-1135990549087645642005-12-30T19:55:00.000-05:002005-12-30T19:55:00.000-05:00Perhaps they are all as innocent as the day they w...Perhaps they are all as innocent as the day they were born (and the girl had some sort of virtual invisible man rape her). But, if they are so innocent, why are they not being handed over to the legal authorities to deal with as you or I would be dealt with? My comment, additionally, is directed as those who call the victim (a Filipina 22 year old girl) a hooker. Even if she is, or was, does that make it OK for 4-6 men to rape her? Thanks.

Imran Anwar
http://imran.com/ImranAnwar/Imran Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03919552891874811342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10248241.post-1135989193291499522005-12-30T19:33:00.000-05:002005-12-30T19:33:00.000-05:00This might have been a tongue in cheek commentary,...This might have been a tongue in cheek commentary, BUT as they say, there's more truth in jest than realized.

This is a very serious case and I, for one, intend to hold judgement until the court hears the case accordingly. I trust that both the Philippine and American authorities will work together in unraveling the TRUTH.

I am a Filipino-American and as much as I believe that rape is indeed a despicable act of violence, I still consider those four servicemen innocent until proven guilty.Senor Enriquehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00872039827792703974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10248241.post-1135882493052784172005-12-29T13:54:00.000-05:002005-12-29T13:54:00.000-05:00Joanne, Yes, occasionally tongue in cheek commenti...Joanne, Yes, occasionally tongue in cheek commenting does require double entendre, and sometimes trying to hit rednecks with a point requires using words that begin with F- etc. Thanks for your comment, and I enjoyed your posting on this topic very much. Come back soon. Your comments are most welcome.

ImranImran Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03919552891874811342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10248241.post-1135880915575184322005-12-29T13:28:00.000-05:002005-12-29T13:28:00.000-05:00Although this entry is a but crude, I do appreciat...Although this entry is a but crude, I do appreciate the tongue-in-cheek nature of your commentary. Filipino communities across the globe have been keeping a eye out on this case because it shows that even today, militarization continues to damage the Philippines (even after we've been declared an independent country and got rid of the military bases) on various levels.

Also, Filipinos globally are affected by this and similar cases because Filipinas are automatically seen as hypersexual, cheap and easy whores. These stereotypes carry on outside of the military bases and outside of the Philippines, yet no one realizes why such images exist.

It's frustrating. Absolutely frustrating.Joannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16366014040490217527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10248241.post-1135795025357394902005-12-28T13:37:00.000-05:002005-12-28T13:37:00.000-05:00Thank you for the great comment.Thank you for the great comment.Imran Anwarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03919552891874811342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10248241.post-1135710007532528332005-12-27T14:00:00.000-05:002005-12-27T14:00:00.000-05:00A rape is a heinous crime....and such people need ...A rape is a heinous crime....and such people need to b flogged in public and no punishment is proper except death.......shame on people who consider a woman to b a sex object.....how can people illtreat women, when they have women at home? and when are men going to start behaving as educated civilized human beings?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
