tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10237176.post-1115276534138500082005-05-05T07:50:00.000+01:002005-05-05T08:02:14.160+01:00<a href="http://www.vatican.va/news_services/press/documentazione/documents/cardinali_biografie/cardinali_bio_lopez-trujillo_a_en.html" target="_blank">Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo</a>, head of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Family has been spouting anti-gay venom again. <a href="http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=8361763" target="_blank&quot;">Reuters reports</a> that he "<span style="font-style: italic;">blasted Spain's law allowing gays to wed as a destruction of the marriage institution and urged Christians around the world to oppose such unions.</span>" The new Spanish legislation on gay marriage, includes the rights to adopt, which the Cardinal described as "<span style="font-style: italic;">moral violence</span>" against children and jeopardised their personality and stability.<br /><br />In an interview with <a href="http://www.fides.org/ita/index.html" target="_blank&quot;">Fides</a>, the news agency of the Vatican's missionary arm, Lopez Trujillo said the Spanish law allowing gay couples to marry had "<span style="font-style: italic;">changed and falsified the very definition of marriage</span>" and was "<span style="font-style: italic;">destroying, bit by bit, the institution of marriage</span>".
