While I've had a blast writing it... changes in my responsibilities at The Enquirer and the addition of little ones in my home life have made it more and more difficult for me to maintain it at the level it should be (you've probably noticed). Sometime between now and the end of May, this blog will cease to exist in its current form. The trailer is now available here. I believe it's safe to assume that Charles Widmore was the man behind the Dharma Initiative. It was his island, and Dharma was working to unlock its potential. When Ben switched sides, gassed the Dharma team, and began jamming the signals, he successfully stole the island away. Widmore's been Brian Buttshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15738624681383335534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10216674.post-69701785827491444342008-04-25T16:14:00.003-04:002008-04-25T16:22:51.684-04:00Okkervil DisasterOk... so first, a life lesson. I chose real life fun over fake life fun and got burned. Came home from the Okkervil River show last night to find "Lost" not on my DVR. So, I haven't seen it yet. I'll have to catch it tonight on ABC.com. I can't talk to you about "Lost," but I can offer some beautiful pictures from last night's show: Okkervil River Okkervil River The Turnbull AC's Wussy Brian Buttshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15738624681383335534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10216674.post-74223796936757715702008-04-24T09:16:00.003-04:002008-04-24T09:25:14.795-04:00Okkervil RiverAs excited as I am about the return of "Lost" tonight, I'll be recording it so I can go to the Mad Hatter to see my favorite band of late, Okkervil River. I've said on here many times that my favorite record of this decade is "Funeral" by Arcade Fire. If you're into it as well, Okkervil River is right up your alley. I have to hand it to them though, Hulu.com is awesome. The video quality is pretty good, the user experience is great... but what really makes it is the catalogue. So, while I use it to catch up on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," here are my five favorite episodes to kill your productivity: 1. Upwards of 40 bands on three stages in two days. Went last year and had a great time. Aside from the surprise of seeing the Seedy Seeds on the list (who I love but wouldn't exactly say fit the bill), one major thing has stood out to me this year. It's at the Southgate House. Cincypunk Fest is in Kentucky. Somehow, I've known that for months... but it never Brian Buttshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15738624681383335534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10216674.post-88098665820655421472008-04-07T15:06:00.004-04:002008-04-07T15:10:02.231-04:00Thumbs up / Thumbs down? Thanks to Tom for sending me this this morning: Honestly... It seems to me it's trying to achieve this sort of self mockery... ...but coming up a bit short.Brian Buttshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15738624681383335534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10216674.post-76752759305460732882008-04-01T22:11:00.004-04:002008-04-01T22:51:54.784-04:00The commissioner's jokeFirst off, sorry for not being around lately. I'm working on a solution for those times where my real job overtakes my fake one. More on that later. The word on the Interwebs all week was that the Joker would have something big planned for April Fool's day. Well... something big was planned... but it seems as of now as though the joke is on me. I tried to keep an open mind... she was funny on "SNL." Here... not so much. Check it out. 2nd, Ted was right. The worst movie ever made is "Manos: The Hands of Fate." It's also by far the best "MST3k" ever. If you're interested, I dug up an old article about the movie itself, how it got made, and how badly Brian Buttshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15738624681383335534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10216674.post-48166722799545690462008-03-20T22:56:00.003-04:002008-03-20T22:59:10.040-04:00Knowing is half the battleParamount released a photo from their upcoming live action "GI Joe" movie. It's Ray Park (Darth Maul) as Snake Eyes. I know all the toys of my childhood are being recycled and all... but I really thought "GI Joe" would be the toughest sell. A war movie for kids in this day and age? Curious to see what sort of audience it's targeted to and how it's received. Personally, I always loved it. Zach Snyder made some character photos available to the public. Any readers of the graphic novel out there? What do you think? I was a little underwhelmed by the names... and a bit confused by the ages of the people cast. The movie will serve as a prequel to season 7... which was beat down by the writer's strike. Interestingly enough, some had suggested the show needed to phase out it's real time, 24 hour approach to come up with a new style. Maybe this will serve as a test case.
