Happy spring then! We've been super-busy working out tons of new material for a show in Yosemite at the Evergreen Lodge in July. We're very excited - and we get to play a ton of our favorite songs and go camping all in the same weekend. We're equally stoked about our fast approaching ALL AGES show at Bottom of the Hill in SF April 21st @ 9pm (for you early sleepers, we're on first!). They have food and pool if you want to get there early, and it was voted Best Rock Club by the SF Guardian for 4 years running. Never been? We may pull out some re-arrangements of songs of ours you already know...or maybe we'll have something new...? Regardless, it'll be a great show.

Tues., Apr. 21 @ 9 p.m.
Farewell Typewriter, Moneybrother, Franz Nicolay
Bottom Of The Hill
1233 17th St. (17th @ Missouri)
San Francisco, CA 94107
All ages
$8

Jason C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12939693796629514905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10013183.post-11227436878761530602009-02-18T10:01:00.000-08:002009-02-18T10:01:35.595-08:00Oakland 2/18, this time for realWe're playing a make-up show for our canceled January gig at The Uptown in Oakland tonight. We got down to the Uptown and the employees had just decided to close the club. Probably better for everyone since the rioters were setting cars on fire, breaking windows, and causing a real scene.

Farewell Typewriter is not in the business of playing dangerous shows. Nor do we like to endanger our fans.

Since we didn't get to play, we invited anyone going to the show over to The Fireside Lounge in Alameda. (plenty far from the riot) That was a blast, not as good as playing a live show, but still fun. There were a ton of people that followed us there, we played pool, had some drinks and hung out.

Looks like the show will be rescheduled for Feb. 18th, hopefully you can all make it.

Here's a video of the riot: http://www.wikio.com/video/749830

Audiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11136413024405951357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10013183.post-79343334793405538392008-11-30T13:49:00.000-08:002008-11-30T13:52:14.869-08:00Happy holidaysWe're late on wishing you a happy Thanksgiving, but may the rest of the winter season be filled with warmth, family, friends, and most importantly, rock.

Love,
Grant, Steve, Jason & Audie

Granthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04684854352193749997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10013183.post-20074122414663582542008-11-08T16:42:00.000-08:002008-11-08T16:53:01.430-08:00Tonight in San FranciscoCome see us rejoin our friends Hey Young Believer at Kimo's in San Francisco. Jeez. Well, fret not, my pets, because we'll return Tuesday, Aug. 12 to the city that never sleeps. Wait, that's a different city. The city where everyone smokes pot and you can't ever find a parking spot and liberal commies run everything? Is that San Francisco's catch phrase?

In any case, we're playing there for what might be the only time this month tomorrow night, at the Rockit Room in the Richmond district. We're headlining Tuesday night's installment of the International Pop Overthrow festival, a multi-city showcase with events in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Portland, Liverpool and more. It will be fun. We will make it so.

Tues., Aug. 12 @ 8 p.m.
International Pop Overthrow
feat. It's the third round of the international Emergenza Festival, and if we proceed beyond this round, we'll get to play at the illustrious and historic Great American Music Hall in June. This is the last audience-judged round, so in order to advance we'll need to be one of the <strike>two</strike> three bands (out of seven <strike>or eight</strike>) to receive the most votes by audience show of hand after our set.

The show starts at 8 p.m., but we play at 10:30 or so (parking can take some time and schedules change, so we recommend getting there early). Advance tickets are available from us for $10, so contact your favorite band member to save yourself $5 per ticket.

Sunday, May 18 @ 8 p.m.
Emergenza Festival
Rockit Room
406 Clement St., San Francisco
$10 adv./$15 door
21+

Granthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04684854352193749997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10013183.post-34571363277838060222008-04-19T23:26:00.000-07:002008-04-19T23:29:31.461-07:00New song: "All Brains, No Heart"If you missed our show at Blake's on Telegraph in beautiful Berkeley, Calif., here's a video of the newest Farewell Typewriter tune. But frankly, we have more important things to do than update websites. Like, for example, rock people's faces off. But that's just one example. Here's some news-like tidbits:

1. Our next show is March 22 at the Britannia Arms Cupertino (which, oddly, is really in San Jose). We played here long ago, before Audie was in the band, and we think his presence will bring something special to the place. And by "something special," we mean "a tambourine." Show is 21+, $5, starts at 9 p.m. and we go on third.

2. We've made it onto the third round of the Emergenza Festival, a worldwide battle of the bands competition. Thanks to everyone who supported us during the first two rounds. If we advance after the next round (in May, date & time TBD), we'll get to play the local finals at the Great American Music Hall in June. That would be rad.

3. We've written, and are still writing, some new songs, some of which you'll hear at our shows, and which we hope to record sometime this year.

I'll leave you with this video of us from the first round of the Emergenza festival, in which Grant breaks a string at the beginning of the tune and switches guitars while singing the first verse. If nothing else, we're very good at covering our asses.

Granthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04684854352193749997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10013183.post-58066895206549605472008-01-07T17:10:00.000-08:002008-01-07T17:18:39.400-08:00Happy 2008, show in SF on Thurs. 1/10Happy new year from Farewell Typewriter. Our 2008 resolution? To rock people with greater intensity and frequency than we have in any prior year. We hope you're ready.

Let us begin making good on this resolution by inviting you to our show this Thursday at the Rockit Room in San Francisco. We play at 9:30 p.m. sharp, and immediately following our set, you can cast a vote for us to move on to the next round in the Emergenza Festival, an international "battle of the bands." If all goes well, we'll be recording in Sweden and touring with the Vans Warped Tour in no time.

Tickets are $10 in advance (contact your favorite band member or email us at info AT farewelltypewriter DOT com) and $15 at the door. And let not auld acquaintance be forgot. Our very own Steve Slater was married about a week ago, and Mr. Jason Countryman and Mr. Grant Shellen played some delicious jazz tunes at the ceremony. Audie was there, too, but his role was to merely look good. And I'll be darned if he wasn't downright gorgeous.

But matrimony aside, we're all back in the game and ready to deliver the goods. This week, in fact. We're playing at the Elbo Room with our friends Good People on Wednesday, Sept. 26. We hope you'll join us for a lovely evening. We're very pleased with the way our last two shows (in San Jose and Oakland) went. We remembered most of our gear, played many of the notes that are in our songs, and generally had a non-terrible time. We hope the scores of you that showed up did, too.

We don't have any gigs booked for a short bit, but we're not just lazing about drinking apple-tinis. Sure, we're doing that, but we're also writing new songs for your aural enjoyment.

If you haven't already purchased your copy of the Selfish EP, we'd like to remind you that you can do so for the low price of $6 + $2 shipping, which is a total of $8. If you're really impatient, you can pay a few extra bucks for shipping. All of this is possible at the Farewell Typewriter store. Talk to you soon.

Granthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04684854352193749997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10013183.post-46677042029561371642007-08-02T10:22:00.000-07:002007-08-02T10:27:22.230-07:00Show TONIGHT in OaklandHey friends.
