The chart below is a plot of the readings taken using the New HAARP VHF Riometer.

This instrument is a sensitive receiver tuned to a frequency of 30 MHz. The antenna is an array of 4 element "yagi" type elements pointed directly upward to listen to the background or galactic noise.

This noise varies from one hour to the next as the Earth rotates and, in the absence of ionospheric absorption, is a constant, repeatable function of Local Siderial Time. Over many observations, it is possible to develop a "quiet day" curve which represents the greatest noise that would be heard for any given hour of the day.

By comparing the current noise measurement with the quiet day level, the current 30 MHz ionospheric absorption level can be derived and this number is shown in the figure.

Solar-terrestrial events, such as geomagnetic storms are usually indicated by increases in the absorption level. The absorption at lower frequencies in the HF band is usually much higher than the level observed at 30 MHz.

Occasional spikes in the received signal that go above the quiet day curve are caused by interference from broadcast signals in the 30 MHz band.

The K-index quantifies disturbances in the horizontal component of earth's magnetic field with an integer in the range 0-9 with 1 being calm and 5 or more indicating a geomagnetic storm.

It is derived from the maximum fluctuations of horizontal components observed on a magnetometer during a three-hour interval.

The conversion table from maximum fluctuation (nT) to K-index, varies from observatory to observatory in such a way that the historical rate of occurrence of certain levels of K are about the same at all observatories.

In practice this means that observatories at higher geomagnetic latitude require higher levels of fluctuation for a given K-index.

The official planetary Kp index is derived by calculating a weighted average of K-indices from a network of geomagnetic observatories.

Since these observatories do not report their data in real-time, various operations centers around the globe estimate the index based on data available from their local network of observatories.

Poker Flat Research Range (PFRR) is a launch facility and rocket range for sounding rockets in the U.S. state of Alaska, owned and operated by the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Geophysical Institute since 1968.

The world's largest land-based rocket range, it is situated on a 5,132-acre (20.7 km²) site located approximately 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Fairbanks and is operated under contract to the NASA Wallops Flight Facility.

Since its inception PFRR has been closely aligned and funded by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and its predecessor, the Defense Nuclear Agency (DNA).

Other range users include the United States Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), the Air Force Geophysics Lab (AFGL) and a number of Universities and research laboratories. The Men Who Killed Kennedy is a video documentary series by Nigel Turner that originally aired in 1988 in England with two one-hour segments about the John F. Kennedy assassination.

The United States corporation, Arts & Entertainment Company, purchased the rights to the original two segments. Three one-hour segments were added in 1991. A sixth segment was added in 1995. Finally, three additional hourly segments were added by the History Channel in November 2003.

The ninth segment, titled "The Guilty Men", directly implicated Lyndon B. Johnson.

Within days, Johnson's widow, Lady Bird Johnson, more of his surviving associates, ex-President Jimmy Carter, and the lone, living Warren Commission commissioner and ex-President Gerald R. Ford immediately complained to the History Channel.

They subsequently threatened legal action against Arts & Entertainment Company, owner of the History Channel. "The Guilty Men" segment was completely withdrawn by the History Channel.

Also during the series, French prisoner Christian David named Lucien Sarti as one of three French criminals hired to carry out the assassination of Kennedy, when he was interviewed by author Anthony Summers. This claim is one of the most strongly investigated theories presented on the show.

Here is a fascinating take on the JFK’s assassination – stories of the people who had witnessed it, and those who helped to clean up after it. They are not holding back.

Probably, the most powerful one is the opening testimony of a mother who saw the surreal events together with her husband and their young daughter. She recalls the shape of the President’s head as it is about to explode. She still sees the blood, the devastation.

Her husband tells us how he begins to vomit at this point – how his whole body feels overwhelmed with sickness. The daughter's voice trembles as she speaks of the sadness and the permanent imagery "emblazoned" on her mind.

Another woman who was then in her early twenties tells us how she lost her youth at that moment. Her political inclinations annihilated, having (over-)realised the transience of existence and the reality of crushed dreams.

And there were many such witnesses. The whole planet saw it.

How does such trauma affect an individual? What about whole nations? It’s not unreasonable to assume that the effects are devastating. In fact, this is exactly what these people are saying. The lady who saw the President’s head explode was still seeing it during the interview.

But what about whole nations - does it mean that the United States of America experienced a similar level of trauma as a single entity? In my opinion - yes. If you agree, then another question must follow - what did that do to the collective mind of its citizens?

What happened after the assassination of JFK? Did things get any better in America or any other nation?

No, they did not. They got a whole lot worse. Many wars and suffering followed – we are still doing it today. Except, nowadays I don’t believe that people would be as traumatised by seeing a person die in front of them.

Just look at Iraq – or Palestine. When was the last time you vomited because you saw a mutilated body of an “insurgent”? Or shed a tear last time you saw a funeral procession for an innocent child shot by a sniper?

How did we become like that. There must be some sort of global denial, some sort of global amnesia that enveloped our collective conscious mind. Making all of us ignore the facts in front of our very own eyes. No amount of brain splatter seems to make a difference – we still choose to remain silent, passive and dreaming.

What can one do?

We get the answer right at the beginning and all throughout the documentary. First, you begin to wonder - based on the dissonance between your own experience of reality and the feedback you receive from the environment.

Then you begin to investigate and validate your experiences.

Exchange your stories with others – straight from the heart, in the spirit of Truth and preserving the memory of how things really happened.

You gotta think it through in pragmatic terms, I reckon. All this evil in the world nowadays – despite the good psychiatrists out to save humanity as we still unfortunately know it. Or maybe because of...

Are they making any impact whatsoever? Is the humanity a better state to be because of psychiatrists? Or in spite of them...

Maybe certain expressions of behaviour, such as violence or homicide, stem from a deeply-rooted biological composition. Oh, like down to the make-up of the brain...

The series faced a tough challenge: convincing an isolationist nation of the need to become involved in the war and ally with the Soviets, among other things.

In many of the films, Capra and other directors spliced in Axis Power's propaganda footage – recontextualizing it so it promoted the cause of the Allies instead.

Terrorists with roadside bombs have the world's attention at the moment, but once upon a time a different breed of killer stalked the earth.

It wasn't so long ago, and for those who remember the strange death of the Bulgarian writer Georgi Ivanov Markov in 1978, revisiting of the case on "Secrets of the Dead" series will tickle some brain cells.

For those new to the tale, the episode, titled "Umbrella Assassin," will be even more compelling. It turns out that those James Bond movies were not fiction after all. Mr. Markov wrote novels and plays that displeased the hard-line Communist president of Bulgaria, Todor Zhivkov, and in 1969 he defected to the West, eventually ending up in England doing commentary for the BBC and Radio Free Europe.

The Bulgarian Communist machine, it appears, had a long memory and a long reach to go with it: while waiting for a bus on a London bridge in September 1978, Mr. Markov felt a sting on his thigh. He guessed what had happened — he had been injected with a poison pellet — but had trouble convincing doctors that the illness he quickly developed was not a mere flu.

"No one was taking him seriously," Bernard Riley, a doctor who saw him, recalls on the program. "In fact, I remember the look in his eyes. He was desperate for someone to listen to him and believe him." Within days Mr. Markov was dead, and a lethal umbrella was believed to be the cause. "Poison Brolly Riddle," one newspaper headline read.

No arrest was ever made. The details of the case are vividly recalled by numerous people involved, not just doctors and investigators, but Vladimir Kostov, another Bulgarian dissident who had been similarly attacked in Paris two weeks earlier but lived.

The program analyzes the crime "CSI" style, and from Bulgarian and Soviet files picks out some likely culprits. It eventually runs out of cinematic material, resorting to images of a dripping needle and file folders far too often, but it's fascinating nonetheless. And against today's headlines, the tale feels like something from, well, a century ago.

It may indeed feel like a century ago - nevertheless, history likes to repeat itself. The intricate nature of this affair is as disturbing as it is educational.

Immanuel Velikovsky (June 10, 1895 (NS) – November 17, 1979) is best known as the author of a number of controversial books on pre-history, particularly the US bestseller Worlds in Collision (1950). Earlier in his life, he played a role in the founding of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and was a respected psychiatrist/psychoanalyst.

His books primarily used comparative mythology and ancient literary sources (not least the Bible) to propose that the Earth had suffered catastrophic close-contacts with other planets in the solar system (principally Venus and Mars), during and before recorded history.

He argued that electromagnetic effects played an important role in celestial mechanics. He also proposed a revised chronology of Ancient Egypt, Greece, the Land of Israel and the Near East, aiming to eliminate Dark Ages and reconcile Biblical history with both archeology and Egyptian chronology.

Generally, Velikovsky's theories have been vigorously rejected by the academic community, but despite, or perhaps because of this, Velikovsky's books sold well, with claims of unfair treatment by the mainstream providing a rallying call for Velikovsky's lay supporters.

The documentary about psychopaths was just posted, when this little nugget popped out of nowhere… Very surreptitiously, almost as if some cosmic joker pulled a naughty slight-of-hand on the events of that day...

I guess, when you follow your heart, all else falls into place.

When you consider these two movies together - on one hand, you have a story about psychopaths who dwell in a bizarre inner world - a very morose and hollow place, one devoid of emotions or empathy. Subjectivity in its purest form reins supreme here.

On the other hand, we have a very tangible reality where actual rocks fly around in outer space causing death and destruction in their path. Here we have a rather objective and tangible world. Here we have no need for prolonged deliberation or wondering about the reality of the phenomenon.

I guess, this sort of implies, “The rocks, planets – whatever, are just flying above our heads so deal with it”.

Lately, I am pondering on that – for some reason. This whole shebang with rocks and impacts and how often it happens – and most importantly – how do you survive such events, have been on my mind lately…

When I read Velikovsky’s ever-excellent “Worlds in Collision”, it was a challenging book. I don’t think it was the language he used – that was pretty much straight down the line. I believe it was the content – the meaning of what he was trying to convey was creating some sort of internal response in me that made me switch off.

To this day, it is difficult for me to remember the content – however, I do remember how much I struggled to read it. Why??

Because I am attempting to deal with the implications of the subject matter. Not the bodily implications – but how survival connects to the spiritual aspects of our existence.

Are my bodily experiences predetermined by the blueprint of the soul? How does that work?

According to popular wisdom, psychopaths are crazed and bloodthirsty serial killers. The reality is not so simple.

While many psychopaths do commit violent crimes, not all psychopaths are criminals and not all criminals are psychopathic. Psychopaths are found in many walks of life and are often successful in competitive professions. However they are also ruthless, manipulative and destructive.

Equinox reports on techniques developed by psychologists to work out whether a person is psychopathic and shows how brain scientists are coming close to mapping the malfunctions in the brain that cause a person to be a psychopath.

In Britain one person in 200 is likely to be a psychopath. However psychopaths are thought to be responsible for half of all reported crimes and to make up between 15% and 20% of the prison population.

The programme looks at the most recent research into the brains and behaviour of psychopaths and assesses the prospects for the treatment or containment of this antisocial group of people who create such a disproportionate amount of destruction.

Psychopaths who have been convicted of appalling crimes explain with disturbing clarity what motivated them in their violent and destructive behaviour. They speak without shame, guilt, remorse or empathy with their victims.

Though they are articulate and, at times, plausible and charming, they lack the range of emotions experienced by the rest of society. They know the difference between right and wrong but they do not feel it.

Robert Hare, Professor of Psychology at the University of Vancouver, has devised a system of assessment called the Psychopathy Checklist. In specialised interviews, psychologists assess individuals on a scale of 0 to 40 for a series of character traits, including callousness, superficial charm, lack of empathy and many others (for more detail look at How to recognise a psychopath).

Anyone whose score is greater than 26 is diagnosed as psychopathic.

Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R)

This is a clinical rating scale with 20 items. Each of the items in the PCL-R is scored on a three-point (0, 1, 2) scale according to specific criteria through file information and a semi-structured interview.

A value of 0 is assigned if the item does not apply, 1 if it applies somewhat, and 2 if it fully applies. The items are as follows:
Glibness/superficial charm
Grandiose sense of self-worth
Need for stimulation/proneness to boredom
Pathological lying
Conning/manipulative
Lack of remorse or guilt
Shallow affect
Callous/lack of empathy
Parasitic lifestyle

Acute traumatic Stress, Paranoia and Displacement due to the narcissist

After you have managed to escape the narcissist, you will still be in fear. These fears are multiple and are to do with your personal safety. This is, the narcissist will make efforts to ensure that you do not feel safe and every means will be used including:
telling you that violence will be used against you with a real risk of execution.
telling you that you will have no access to your belongings, pets or children
turning up at the place where you stay unexpectedly
ringing you and leaving intimidating messages
passing on bills and financial commitments to you which are not yours
using a lawyer to write intimidating letters
spreading lies about you to your family and friends (if you have some left)
start a court case against you claiming that the narcissist was the victim
telling you not to speak to people because they are all working for the narcissist
telling you that nobody ever loved you like (s)he did and that you are a liar
go through your personal belongings where possible (e.g. break into your email account)
threatening to phone work and inform them that you are unsuitable for the work
intimidating you sexually be making inappropriate advances

As you can imagine, this all has one main effect on you. It all stresses you. Taking this into account together with the stress you might be experiencing through a move, new financial commitments and new surroundings, it is more than likely that you will experience acute traumatic stress - you can feel your heart pumping overtime.

Additionally to the stress, you might develop a paranoid tendency. As you have been informed that the narcissist has her/his spies operating against you, you feel you cannot trust anybody. A person sitting outside your house in a car, might just be one of those spies. The shopkeeper down the road seems not to smile at you anymore. Well, he too might have turned against you.

This deep sense of distrust becomes reinforced because it does happen that things you said or did leak to the narcissist. Work colleagues and friends, who might have begrudged you for some time, see this as the perfect opportunity to add to your distress.

There is only one way of dealing with this: Use the appropriate channels (such as your GP) and make your situation officially known. Rather than loosing your job, take sick leave if you feel that you cannot cope.

Accept help from everywhere except from the narcissist.

Finally, you will struggle with a problem of cognitive nature. Any situation which will resemble a situation reminding you of the narcissist can trigger fear. So it can quite easily happen that a person who genuinely talks to you in order to help you, chooses the wrong tone and you see the narcissist in this person.

You have to use all your reasoning powers to separate other people from your narcissist (seeing a problem shifted somewhere else is called displacement). It happens very easily that you displace fears, hopes, even positive feelings into other people simply there is something about them which is similar to your narcissist.

However, you also will have to learn to understand your inner alarm bells. If someone really resembles the narcissist, you better stop contact fast. Do not ignore your inner feelings and concerns like you did in the past.

Summarizing, this is a very difficult time for you where not just one major issue affects you, but at least three.
You have to try to stay calm as much a possible and
Give yourself plenty of rest.
You need to be in a relaxed and quiet environment.
In this situation it might be an idea to return to a place where you feel definitely safe (e.g. your parent's home if you are sure you felt safe there). In my case, I simply wanted to be on my own.

At Princeton, the physicist Robert R. Wilson encouraged Feynman to participate in the Manhattan Project—the wartime U.S. Army project at Los Alamos developing the atomic bomb. Feynman said he was persuaded to join this effort to build it before Nazi Germany.

He was assigned to Hans Bethe's theoretical division, and impressed Bethe enough to be made a group leader. Together with Bethe, he developed the Bethe-Feynman formula for calculating the yield of a fission bomb, which built upon previous work by Robert Serber.

Until his wife's death on June 16, 1945, he visited her in a sanatorium in Albuquerque each weekend. He immersed himself in work on the project, and was present at the Trinity bomb test.

Feynman claimed to be the only person to see the explosion without the very dark glasses provided, reasoning that it was safe to look through a truck windshield, as it would screen out the harmful ultraviolet radiation.

In this one-off documentary, David Malone looks at four brilliant mathematicians - Georg Cantor, Ludwig Boltzmann, Kurt Gödel and Alan Turing - whose genius has profoundly affected us, but which tragically drove them insane and eventually led to them all committing suicide.

The film begins with Georg Cantor, the great mathematician whose work proved to be the foundation for much of the 20th-century mathematics. He believed he was God's messenger and was eventually driven insane trying to prove his theories of infinity.

Ludwig Boltzmann's struggle to prove the existence of atoms and probability eventually drove him to suicide. Kurt Gödel, the introverted confidant of Einstein, proved that there would always be problems which were outside human logic. His life ended in a sanatorium where he starved himself to death.

Finally, Alan Turing, the great Bletchley Park code breaker, father of computer science and homosexual, died trying to prove that some things are fundamentally unprovable.

The film also talks to the latest in the line of thinkers who have continued to pursue the question of whether there are things that mathematics and the human mind cannot know.

They include Greg Chaitin, mathematician at the IBM TJ Watson Research Center, New York, and Roger Penrose.

Dangerous Knowledge tackles some of the profound questions about the true nature of reality that mathematical thinkers are still trying to answer today.

Honestly, you gotta snigger at that one. Well, I didn’t at the time but the tension is coming down now...

Basically, what happened was I decided to change jobs in order to improve my quality of life – on many different fronts. The finances were gaunt, the job satisfaction was gone, the boss was getting weird on me…? 2.5 years is long enough.

Everything went really well – especially the 5 interviews I had to sit for in order to get into the next dream environment. Except, my boss had other ideas and decided to make it difficult for me to leave.

So he gave me terrible references. What a perfect plan – your employee will never leave now because nobody will want him! Suddenly, the vision of a much-needed pay rise (or life for that matter) was beginning to fade away in front of my very eyes.

This is when you get creative.

I managed to chase down a marketing manager from Hong Kong who was in Japan waiting for the next plane to get back home. He didn’t mind telling the truth to my prospective employer. In fact, if it wasn’t for his giving disposition, I would not have been able to get out of this dangerous and scary situation.

I also collected enough written material to reassure my prospective employer that I am not evil, lobotomised or lazy. This was the bit that really lifted my spirits because I simply forgot how many people were pleased to benefit from my services – and how often those thanks were coming down the grapevine.

It’s just that I forgot because I was so busy constantly repairing the damage to my soul. As this is ultimately the price you pay for hanging out with predators – you get eaten. And it hurts. And it can get very hairy for you.

The problem is – you do not always realise that you are hanging out with predators. They have ways of convincing you otherwise, of making you feel inadequate and ill-prepared. Even if everyone around you is wondering what the hell is wrong with your eyes.

So I got it but my boss would not let me go that easily and really put in a lot of effort into harassing me, trying to scare me, pleading, threatening with legal documents that seem serious but really make no sense, etc etc. It went on for two weeks.

So what do you do?

You disconnect - and then you expose them. You cease all contact and get it through to your thick skull that this harassment is the only point there is. It’s only designed to drain you emotionally and physically. There is never a possibility to reason or argue your way out of it.

You just gotta walk away and refuse to play!

So by the end of the first week I would not have it any longer and abandoned my employment. The notice had already been given anyway and I was prepared to go without pay for a couple of weeks. The new employer recommended that I take a week off too but it was never meant to be this dramatic.

This is when the unsolicited visits started happening, harassing phone calls and – surprisingly – weird text messages. As my rant is getting long already, I just want to leave this topic with a quote that we all here had a good giggle about.

Indeed, this movie could change the whole world – well, at least it will shed some light on the reality of the contemporary monetary system.

Make no mistake, the issues discussed in this documentary are not just relevant to the United States – in fact, all Western countries subscribe to a slight variation of the same model. Therefore, we are all under the same - essentially feudal - system with few people in charge.

The secretive nature of the Reserve Banking System is probably the most disturbing aspect of this whole kabana. We are looking here at essentially non-government entities, with no overseeing body and no known budgets. That no-budget quandary is actually pretty funny considering that Reserve Banks magically create money out of thin air and then lend it to governments at interest.

So if they need cash for something, I guess they can just print some… Crazy world!

Ron Paul makes an interesting appearance in this movie. He is obviously arguing against such tyranny – and "tyranny" is probably a good word here. His contribution to the debate obviously needs to be acknowledged. However, I cannot escape the impression that promoting such views will not be very helpful in his upcoming presidential candidacy of 2008.

Not because it’s a wrong thing to argue – not at all, quite the opposite in fact. Nevertheless, since this whole “imaginary money” thing is so entrenched, with so many extremely powerful stakeholders relying on perpetuating such a state of affairs – he will likely find it difficult to be accepted and promoted as a serious contender.

Although, stranger things have happened…

Paul Grignon's 47-minute animated presentation of "Money as Debt" tells in very simple and effective graphic terms what money is and how it is being created.

It is an entertaining way to get the message out. The Cowichan Citizens Coalition and its "Duncan Initiative" received high praise from those who previewed it.

I recommend it as a painless but hard-hitting educational tool and encourage the widest distribution and use by all groups concerned with the present unsustainable monetary system in Canada and the United States.

We live in a permanent state of Halloween - no, really. This reality is bizarre and strange. People are strange. They do weird and scary things and are proud of them.

Once in a while we are blessed with a visionary able to catch these things with an objective eye and just pause for a second, realise it - and then yell to all concerned.

Bill Hick was one of those visionaries - and he could see and pause and then describe what he noticed in a foul, poignant and excellent way.

If you are offended by what you hear in this recording, then you missed the point completely.

Is there a point to any of this? Yes, I think there is.
The world is like a ride at an amusement park. It goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while.

Hmmm..., something seems to be taking place on the UFO scene at the moment – something quite subtle and intangible. Both in terms of the actual increase in the number of sightings and the widespread release of tons of new research material.

The general increase in the number of sightings is probably due to both the number of people actually looking up in the sky – and the increased number of alien visitations.

What could that mean in terms relevant to us – the everyday people?
This is basically the theme of today’s documentary.

To be honest, I never gave Dan much credit. I kinda thought that he was a bit of a showman, maybe with a dash of geekiness. Sorry Dan, if you are reading this – but you never really exposed this side of yourself before…

And the person that basically comes out in front of our very eyes is an extremely intelligent philosopher with extensive knowledge in the field of UFO’s, with a genuine thirst for knowledge.

That is rather surprising and most pleasing, actually.

I must congratulate Dan on this interview – it must have taken quite a lot of strength to do it. I mean, most people attempting to discuss UFO's and aliens are either ridiculed or pushed out to the fringe of science, with little chance of reaching mass audiences.

What surprised me the most about Dan in this particular interview was his eloquence and the impressive display of knowledge – information which he seems to have gathered over an extensive period of time. It is especially evident in his discussion of interdimensionality.

Another interesting part of the interview is when Dan speculates about the benevolence of the alien visitors - something that most researchers feel very uncomfortable about and tend to just settle on “they’re friendly – why not” shtick.

The possibility of us being food or a cruel joke is somehow inconceivable to most people interested in the topic.

Well, Dan Aykroyd seriously explores various possibilities. He gives some reasons to think about aliens as friendly beings – but also delves into the implications of malevolent alien behaviour; things like abductions, the trauma caused as a result, etc…

That in itself is rather revolutionary. Sure, there were plenty of others before him to seriously consider this question but Dan Aykroyd is a celebrity. A famous celebrity talking about aliens trying to pretend they’re nice so they can trick you. Not bad.

Anyways, enough about my impressions – do make an effort to form your own and just watch this fascinating interview. It is peppered with lots of great UFO footage – a lot of it is very recent.

The classic Canadian documentary Manufacturing Consent based on the Noam Chomsky/Edward Herman book by the same name. Explores the propaganda model of the media.

Noam Chomsky... Well, to be honest, this is not a person that I claim to know much about. Nevertheless, his work came up during the course of my research.

It would seem that everybody has an opinion about Noam - much as is the case with David Ickie. In other words, some bits of his will be good - some not so kosher. However, ultimately he has made a number of really good observations and these resonated with many people.

The reason I like this movie is because it is a classic with a lot of excellent points about media bias and the way our minds are shaped by those in power. By now, you have probably noticed that these sorts of issues are the prevailing theme in my blog.

The reason to like it slightly less is the dryness. There are plenty of excellent moments - but at times, they do get repetitive. Nevertheless, the content is spot on and really enlightening as to the true nature of modern propaganda.

Do yourself a favour and make an honest effort to see this one. It is filled with juicy excerpts from newsmedia and various public talks.

Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media (1992) is a documentary film that explores the political life and ideas of Noam Chomsky, a linguist, intellectual, and political activist. Created by two Canadian independent filmmakers, Mark Achbar and Peter Wintonick, it expands on the ideas of Chomsky's earlier book, Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media, which he co-wrote with Edward S. Herman.

The film presents and illustrates Chomsky's and Herman's propaganda model, the thesis that corporate media, as profit-driven institutions, tend to serve and further the agendas of the interests of dominant, elite groups in the society. In the same conversation, he criticizes the New York Times review of the film, which mistakes his message for being a call for voter organizing rather than media critique.

And so the video has made the rounds around the Internet. In fact, Manufacturing Consent has caused quite a stir. Except, the controversy never really focused on the topic at hand but the credibility of Chomsky and his associates. Again.

It's different this time though, Noam. Now it's the Truth movement turning against you and beginning to question your credibility. It's questioning your selective attention to the Facts.

When this post was first released back in October 2007, I claimed not to know very much about Noam Chomsky and what he represented. I also complained about the dryness of his approach. I still stand by that.

Of course, this could be a result of slight mental retardation on my behalf - after all, lots of people love his stuff. And lots of people seek out pages about him, including this one.

So why on Earth, would I bother to flap my wings about it? Well, obviously, not all of it is crap. In fact, there is a lot of good content in the movie. Hell, nowadays you tend to grasp at straws when it comes to Seeking the Truth.

Not very many people say anything at all about the current state of planetary affairs. You kind of have to put on a good pair of weeding gloves, validate everything, explore multiple sources - and eventually, you would hope that everything falls into place.

Except, with Chomsky - you will get a good dose of the standard set of "issues" and then he refuses to go any further with that. The 9/11 inside job is a good example - it is inconceivable in his opinion that there could be a problem with the involvement of Neocons.

What an odd thing to say...

And so now it is coming back to bite Mr. Chomsky in the proverbial behind. Of course, this is not a criticism of the movie as presented to the audience. It's about Complicity with Evil.

If you are selective about Truth and then present it in a way that serves your own agenda - you are guilty of spreading Lies.

In conclusion, allow me to quote from one particularly interesting source, followed by some more research material.

At that time, 9/11 investigators had already presented substantial documented evidence for: prior warnings, Air Force stand-down, anomalous insider trading connected to CIA, cover-up of the domestic anthrax attacks, inconsistencies in identities & timelines of "hijackers", US connections to al Qaeda in Balkans, a Pak ISI-al Qaeda funding connection, etc etc etc

Professor Noam Chomsky, one of the country's most famous dissidents, says that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman in Dallas. Anyone who still supports the Warren Commission hoax after forty years of countering proofs is either ill-informed, dumb, gullible, afraid to speak truths to power or a disinformation agent.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where Chomsky has worked for decades, has a very good physics department (MIT is the largest university contractor to the military). Perhaps he could visit them and learn why it is physically impossible for Oswald to have been anything more than the "patsy" that he (accurately) claimed to be.

The truth is that Chomsky is very good in his analysis within certain parameters of limited debate -- but in understanding the "deep politics" of the actual, secret government, his analysis falls short.

Chomsky is good at explaining the double standards in US foreign policies - but at this point understanding / exposing the mechanics of the deceptions (9/11 isn't the only one) the reasons for it (Peak Oil / global dominance / domestic fascism) and what we can do (war crimes trials / permaculture to relocalize food production / paradigm shifts) is more important than more repetition from Chomsky.

Professor Chomsky was apparently part of a study group in the late 1960s that was investigating what really happened in Dallas (ie. he was a skeptic of the official story). It seems likely that Chomsky did indeed figure out what happened - and decided that this was too big of an issue to confront.

Maybe Chomsky gets more media attention these days than most other dissidents BECAUSE he urges people not to inquire into how the secret government operates.

This is the full length 90 min version of Bill Moyer's 1987 presentation. It is a scathing critique of the criminal subterfuge carried out by the Executive Branch of the United States Government to carry out operations which are clearly contrary to the wishes and values of the American people.

The ability to exercise this power with impunity is facilitated by the National Security Act of 1947. The thrust of the exposé is the Iran-Contra arms and drug-running operations which flooded the streets of the American nation with crack cocaine.

The significance of the documentary is probably greater today in 2007 than it was when it was made. We now have a situation in which these same forces have committed the most egregious terrorist attack on US soil and have declared a fraudulent so-called "War on Terror".

The ruling regime in the US who have conducted the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, are now banging the war drum against Iran. We have the PATRIOT act which has stripped us of many of our basic civil rights justified by the terror of 9/11 which is their own doing.

It is fascinating how history likes to repeat itself. This interesting documentary explores the ins and outs of the events surrounding the scandalous sale of weapons to Iran Contras.

The whole affair involved many players – including Israel, and went on behind the backs and oversight of the US parliament or any other official body. The thing is, the parties at fault did not really care that this was the case – in fact, they freely admitted their deceptive practices. Much like the Nazis following the Second World War, they excused their deeds with the need for national security.

Funny how times (do not) change, isn’t it?

Now think about it for a second. With the events of late, what conclusions can we draw – what lessons have we learnt? Well, not many, in my humble opinion. Look, the whole drama is playing itself over again – this time a different country is targetted, yet the same players seem to be involved.

What interests me the most, is the fact that Iran seems to be the next big target of America. And yet – this is the same country that they manipulated and supported not so long ago. Is this a part of a larger master plan that is executed in meticulous detail – over prolonged periods of time so as not to arise any suspicions…?

History is an amazing tool – little wonder that politicians are trying to manipulate it.

What I also find amazing is the fact that when you look back (through the filters of this particular documentary), you will see some familiar faces popping up, with quite different agendas than what we see nowadays. In a strange sort of way, with the “hindsight of now”, we suddenly see the deceptions of “back then”.

Probably a good thing to keep in mind…

I am talking here about Sen. Kerry. Funny fellow that one – he was such a champion of the little people, such a hero in a war against the government’s intervention into our little lives. But that was then. And now? Well, have a look at some of the articles linked to below.

I found this doco today and thought, "Wow! I had no idea this is what happens..."

There are several things happening here. For starters, we have a person with an idea - it's kind of a curiosity really based on intuitive feeling. The seemingly strange idea leads him to a very mundane and time consuming task of taping live satellite feeds.

The point of difference here is that what gets beamed up in the sky is raw footage taken from the very moment interviewees sit down and get their make-up done.

Now, this is when the interesting stuff happens. This is where you get to see the reality behind the camera - the reality behind the news. In the meantime, the raw footage is downloaded by news media to be cut and pre-digested for public broadcast.

It is then gulped by people like you and me and then absorbed by our minds.

So this dude spent like a whole year downloading raw footage from the satellites, going one by one and looking out for interesting snippets regarding the presidential elections in the US (1992 presidential elections - Clinton vs. Bush Sr.).

Here we have contemporary presidents, future presidents, future vice-presidents, news commentators, fundamentalist Christian preachers - all of them speaking their mind. Raw and uncut.

After all, who could be watching, right?

Indeed, here we have – likely – the most objective UFO research release to-date. “Why?”, you may ask.

Well, for starters, there is no stupid dramatic commentary by a Star Trek graduate. In fact, there is very little in terms of spoken word altogether – with the exception of raw and uncut interviews with various famous people.

This is not to say that the interviewees themselves have no agenda – it’s just that everything included here is presented as-is.

That’s fantastic in itself.

The footage is gob-smacking, indisputable, well-researched and spans the period from the 60’s up to the current times. If you are patient and carefully follow the movie, you will quickly realise how the UFO sightings have evolved over time.

The complexity of the sightings and the quality of the recorded footage have been steadily improving from the time of the first video images.

If you enjoy hype and dramatisation, you might want to investigate the next video. After all, sometimes, to get the message through, you gotta yell it in one’s face.
